Back in December, Alex traveled home for something no one likes to do saying goodbye to a loved one

He was there on December 13–14 to lay his beloved grandmother to rest, a woman many say held a special place in his heart

Nobody knew that just a short while later, people would be using one of those same photos to remember him too

Life can be unbelievably fragile
One moment, you're standing beside the grave of someone you love, paying your last respects and trying to stay strong for the family

The next moment, people are gathering your own photos, videos and memories, struggling to believe that you are gone too

Today, those images from his grandmother's burial have become even more emotional because they capture one of Alex's final public appearances

He came home to say goodbye to someone he loved
Now, family, friends and loved ones are saying goodbye to him
