TOPIC: Transforming Your Mindset for a Valued Relationship
TEXT: Romans 12:2 (KJV)

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…”

INTRODUCTION

Before you enter into a relationship, you must first understand yourself. You must discover who you are, what you stand for, and where you are going.

A healthy and valued relationship does not begin with finding the right person; it begins with becoming the right person.

You must have principles and values. You must understand the place of God in your life, recognize the tricks of the devil, understand your environment, and know what it takes to build and sustain a healthy relationship.

If the mind is not transformed, the same wrong attitudes, choices, and patterns will continue to produce the same results.

1. HAVE A CHANGED MINDSET AND ATTITUDE

Transformation begins in the mind. Your concept and understanding of relationships must be viewed through God’s perspective, not merely through society, emotions, or past experiences.

Deuteronomy 8:18 (KJV):

“But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth…”

Let God’s Word shape your thinking, expectations, decisions, and attitude toward relationships.

A transformed mind produces transformed choices.

2. CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE TOWARDS RELATIONSHIPS

Every meaningful relationship requires love, patience, forgiveness, communication, sacrifice, and understanding.

1 Corinthians 13:4 (KJV):

“Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up.”

You cannot build a lasting relationship with pride, selfishness, anger, unforgiveness, and impatience.

Love is not just a feeling; love is a decision to treat people according to God’s standard.

3. STOP REPEATING DESTRUCTIVE PATTERNS

Transformation means learning from yesterday and making better choices today.

Do not allow the mistakes of your past relationships to become the blueprint for your future.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV):

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

You may have made mistakes yesterday, but you don't have to repeat them tomorrow.

Learn from the past, but don't live in the past.

4. LET GOD TRANSFORM YOUR PRIORITIES

A relationship becomes healthier when God is given His rightful place.

Put God first in your finances, decisions, career, family, and relationships.

Matthew 6:33 (KJV):

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

When God is first, other things can fall into their proper place.

Don't make a relationship your god. Don't allow a person to take the place that belongs to God.

5. DON'T USE MONEY TO ABUSE OR DESTROY RELATIONSHIPS

Money is important, but money should serve relationships, not become the master of them.

Don't use money to control, manipulate, oppress, intimidate, or take advantage of someone.

1 Timothy 6:10 (KJV):

“For the love of money is the root of all evil…”

Money can support a relationship, but it cannot replace love, trust, respect, communication, and commitment.

CONCLUSION

A valued relationship requires a transformed mind.

Before asking, “Who should I marry?” ask yourself:

“Who am I becoming?”

Discover yourself. Build your values. Know God. Understand your environment. Learn from your past. Change your attitude. Set the right priorities and handle money wisely.

When the mind is transformed, relationships can be transformed.

Romans 12:2 (KJV):

“And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…”

Transform your mind before you transform your relationship.

Become the person you want to attract, and build your relationship according to God’s Word.

May your relationship be sweet and impactful in Jesus's name, Amen.

Killers of Opportunities ( Part 2)

1. DISOBEDIENCE
God may open a door, but disobedience can cause you to walk away from it.

Deuteronomy 28:1–2
“And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt diligently hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.”

God's instructions are not designed to destroy your future.
They are designed to guide you into it.
Sometimes God says:
“Go.”
You say:
“I don't want to.”
God says:
“Leave that relationship.”

You say:
“But I love him.”
God says:
“Stop that habit.”
You say:
“Everybody is doing it.”

Never allow disobedience to make you lose what obedience would have brought.

2. PRIDE
Pride makes a person believe:
“I know everything.”
“I don't need anybody.”
“Who are you to correct me?”
“I am better than them.”

Proverbs 16:18
“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”

A proud person may reject an opportunity because it comes through someone they don't respect.
Your opportunity may come through your pastor.
It may come through your teacher.
It may come through your parent.
It may come through a mentor.
It may even come through somebody younger than you.

Don't reject useful counsel because of pride.

Proverbs 11:14
“Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.”

Be humble enough to learn.

3. LACK OF DISCERNMENT
Not everything that looks like an opportunity is from God.
Some opportunities are traps.
Some relationships look attractive but are destructive.
Some jobs look profitable but will destroy your peace and integrity.
Some invitations look exciting but will take you away from God's purpose.
Therefore, you need discernment.

1 Chronicles 12:32
“And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do...”

You need to understand:
What is this opportunity?
Why is it coming now?
Who is bringing it?
Where will it take me?
Does it agree with God's Word?
What will it cost me?

Don't just ask:
“Is this an opportunity?”

Ask:
“Is this the right opportunity for me?”

4. WRONG TIMING
There is a right opportunity and there is a right time.

Ecclesiastes 3:1
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”

Some things are not necessarily bad; they are simply premature.
A teenager may want certain adult privileges before the appropriate time.
A young person may rush into marriage because of pressure.
Someone may abandon preparation because they want immediate success.
Learn to understand seasons.

Ecclesiastes 8:6
“Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man is great upon him.”

Don't rush your season, and don't sleep through your season.

5. THE COMFORT ZONE
Comfort zones are dangerous because they feel safe.
Abraham had to leave what was familiar.

Genesis 12:1
“Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee.”

God was calling Abraham away from familiarity into possibility.
Sometimes your next level requires you to:
Learn something new. Meet new people. Accept responsibility. Leave a bad habit. Change your mindset. Take a step of faith. Serve beyond your comfort zone.

You cannot discover new territories while refusing to leave familiar places.

“See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” — Ephesians 5:15–16

Introduction
Every young person carries potential. Inside you are gifts, talents, ideas, abilities and possibilities that can influence your generation.
But potential alone is not enough.

Opportunities are both favourable/ unfavourable moments, chance or opening that gives you the possibility to advance, grow, succeed or fulfil God's purpose for your life.

God can open a door, but you must be willing to walk through it

OPPORTUNITY KILLERS
Opportunity Killers are attitudes, habits, decisions and influences that prevent a person from recognizing, responding to or maximizing opportunities.

1. FEAR
Fear is one of the greatest killers of opportunity.
Fear says:
“I cannot do it.” “What if I fail?” “What will people say?” “I am too young.” “I am not good enough.” “Let somebody else do it.”
But many opportunities require courage.

2 Timothy 1:7
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Young people, don't allow fear to make decisions for you.
If God gives you an opportunity to lead, learn, serve, start something, apply for something, develop your talent or step into a new responsibility, don't allow fear to stop you.

Fear can make you admire an opportunity that somebody else eventually takes.

David was young when he faced Goliath.
Others saw a giant.
David saw an opportunity to demonstrate the power of God.

Don't allow fear to make you miss what faith can give you.

2. PROCRASTINATION
Procrastination means continually postponing what you should do now.
“I will do it tomorrow.”
“I will start next month.”
“I will read later.”
“I will learn that skill someday.”
“I will apply next week.”

Sometimes tomorrow never comes.

Ecclesiastes 11:4
“He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.”

There will always be an excuse.
The weather may not be perfect.
The money may not be enough.
You may not feel ready.

But if you keep waiting for perfect conditions, you may never start.

If you have an opportunity to learn, learn now.

If you have an opportunity to serve God, serve now.

If you have an opportunity to develop your talent, start now.

If you need to apologize, do it now.

If you need to correct your character, start now.

Delay can turn today's opportunity into tomorrow's regret.

3. LAZINESS
Opportunities often look like work.

Some young people want success but don't want preparation.

They want to be successful musicians but don't want to practice.

They want excellent academic results but don't want to study.

They want good careers but don't want to acquire skills.

They want to preach but don't want to study the Word.

They want leadership but don't want responsibility.

Proverbs 20:4
“The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.”

Your opportunity may come disguised as work.

Don't run away from work and then complain that opportunities are not coming.

Proverbs 22:29
“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”

Diligence creates visibility.

Work on yourself before you ask the world to notice you.

4. IGNORANCE
You can miss an opportunity because you don't know that it is an opportunity.

Hosea 4:6
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee...”

This is why young people must learn.

Read books.

Study.

Ask questions.

Learn skills.

Listen to people who have experience.

Attend useful programs.

Study the Word of God.

Don't be proud of what you don't know.

Important lesson:

What you don't know can make you miss what God has placed before you.

Somebody may be looking for the skill you have not yet learned.

Somebody may be looking for the talent you have refused to develop.

An opportunity may be waiting for the knowledge you have not acquired.

5. WRONG FRIENDSHIPS AND RELATIONSHIPS

Who you associate with can influence what you become.

Some people will push you toward your destiny.

Others will pull you away from it.

Some friends will tell you:

“Let's study.”

Others will say:

“Forget school; let's go and have fun.”

Some will encourage you to serve God.

Others will make you ashamed of your faith.

Some will encourage you to develop yourself.

Others will mock your ambition.

1 Corinthians 15:33
“Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.”

Your relationship with people can affect your opportunities.

Proverbs 13:20
“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”

Don't choose friends only because they are funny, popular or fashionable.

Choose people who will help you become better.

The wrong relationship can take you to the wrong destination.

6. NEGATIVE MINDSET
Sometimes the greatest obstacle is not outside you.

It is inside your mind.

The children of Israel saw the same Promised Land, but they did not all see it the same way.

Numbers 13:31
“But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.”

They saw giants.

Joshua and Caleb saw possibility.

Numbers 13:30
“And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.”

Two groups saw the same land.

One group said, “We cannot.”

Another said, “We can.”

Your mindset matters.

Don't always say:

“I can't.”

“I am too young.”

“Nobody will help me.”

“People like me don't succeed.”

“I have nothing.”

Instead, ask:

“What can I do with what God has given me?”

7. LACK OF PREPARATION
An opportunity can come before you are ready.

That is why preparation is important.

Proverbs 22:29
“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”

David did not start preparing when Goliath appeared.

He had already been fighting lions and bears.

His private preparation prepared him for his public opportunity.

Youth lesson:

Practice when nobody is watching.

Study when nobody is forcing you.

Develop your gift before the big opportunity comes.

Build your character before you get the position.

Learn before you are called upon to demonstrate what you know.

Preparation turns opportunity into achievement.

Recognizing and Maximizing Divine Opportunities

1. Recognize opportunities through prayer
Some opportunities are revealed when we seek God in prayer. Do not rush into every open door; ask God for direction.

James 1:5 (KJV):
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

How to handle it: Pray before making major decisions. Ask God for wisdom to distinguish a divine opportunity from a mere distraction.

2. Recognize opportunities through divine peace
An opportunity from God may bring peace and clarity, even when it requires courage and faith.

Colossians 3:15 (KJV):
“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.”

How to handle it: Don't allow pressure, greed, fear, or desperation to make decisions for you. Let God's peace guide your heart.

3. Recognize opportunities through your gifts and abilities
Sometimes an opportunity is connected to what God has already deposited inside you.

Proverbs 18:16 (KJV):
“A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.”

How to handle it: Develop your gifts. When an opportunity comes, be prepared to demonstrate what you can do.

4. Recognize opportunities through relationships
God can use people to connect you to opportunities. The right relationship can open a door that your strength alone could not open.

Proverbs 13:20 (KJV):
“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”

How to handle it: Build relationships with people who have wisdom, integrity, vision, and godly character. Don't despise valuable connections.

5. Recognize opportunities through unusual doors
Not every opportunity will look familiar. Sometimes God opens a door that is completely different from what you expected.

Isaiah 43:19 (KJV):
“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”

How to handle it: Don't reject something simply because it is unfamiliar. Pray, examine it carefully, and be willing to embrace something new.

6. Recognize opportunities by paying attention to timing
An opportunity can be genuine but still require the right timing. Knowing when to act is part of wisdom.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV):
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”

How to handle it: Don't act too early because of impatience, and don't delay when the time to act has come.

7. Recognize opportunities through preparation
Many opportunities are recognized only by people who have prepared themselves for them.

Proverbs 22:29 (KJV):
“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”

How to handle it: Prepare before the opportunity arrives. Learn, train, save, build your character, and acquire the necessary skills.

8. Recognize opportunities even in challenges
What looks like a problem can sometimes contain an opportunity for advancement, service, or impact.

1 Corinthians 16:9 (KJV):
“For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.”

Notice that Paul said a great door was opened, but there were also adversaries.

How to handle it: Don't abandon every opportunity because of opposition. Some doors are valuable precisely because they require courage and perseverance.

9. Recognize opportunities by acting in faith
Sometimes you will not have all the information before you must act. Faith means trusting God enough to take the appropriate step.

Hebrews 11:8 (KJV):
“By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.”

How to handle it: Once you have prayed, received godly counsel, and are convinced of the direction, step out in faith instead of allowing fear to paralyze you.

10. Recognize opportunities by maximizing the present
Don't always wait for a bigger opportunity before using what is already in your hands.

Ephesians 5:15–16 (KJV):
“See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”

How to handle it: Value today's opportunity. Start with what you have, where you are, and with the people God has placed around you.

CHANNELS OF OPPORTUNITIES

1. PEOPLE
God can use people to bring opportunities into your life.
Proverbs 18:16
“A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.”
Joseph's opportunity came when the butler remembered him and introduced him to Pharaoh.
Genesis 41:9–14
Joseph moved from prison to the palace because someone remembered him.
Never despise people. God may use someone to connect you to your next opportunity.

2. RELATIONSHIPS
Some opportunities come through the relationships God places around us.
Ecclesiastes 4:9–10
“Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow...”
Ruth's relationship with Naomi eventually positioned her to meet Boaz.
Ruth 2:2–3
“And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace...
Build healthy and purposeful relationships. The right relationship can become a divine connection.

3. IDEAS AND CREATIVITY
An idea can become an opportunity.
Proverbs 8:12
“I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.”
God gave Bezalel wisdom, knowledge, and creativity to accomplish an important assignment.
Exodus 31:2–5
“See, I have called by name Bezaleel... And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship...”
Do not ignore God-given ideas. An idea can become a ministry, business, invention, or solution.

4. CHALLENGES
Some opportunities are hidden inside challenges.
David's encounter with Goliath became an opportunity for him to demonstrate his faith and enter a new level.
1 Samuel 17:45–47
“Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts...”
What others saw as a giant, David saw as an opportunity to demonstrate God's power.
Don't only ask, “Why am I facing this?” Ask, “What opportunity is hidden in this challenge?1

5. DIFFICULT CIRCUMSTANCES
God can turn difficult circumstances into opportunities for advancement.
Genesis 50:20
“But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good...”
Joseph's pit, slavery, and prison looked like setbacks, but God used them to position him for the palace.
Romans 8:28
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
A difficult season may be preparing you for a greater opportunity.

6. EDUCATION AND KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge can create capacity and position a person for opportunity.
Proverbs 18:15
“The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.”
Daniel's knowledge and wisdom positioned him before kings.
Daniel 1:17
“As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom...”
Keep learning. What you learn today may become the key to tomorrow's opportunity.

7. SERVICE
Service can create opportunities for recognition and promotion.
Proverbs 22:29
“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”
David's service eventually brought him into the presence of the king.
1 Samuel 16:21
“And David came to Saul, and stood before him: and he loved him greatly; and he became his armourbearer...”
Never despise small assignments. Your service can become your platform.

8. BUSINESS AND WORK
God can give people ideas and ability to create wealth through productive work.
Deuteronomy 8:18
“But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for he it is that giveth thee power to get wealth...”
The virtuous woman recognized a business opportunity and acted on it.
Proverbs 31:16
“She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.”
Pray for wisdom to identify legitimate opportunities and have the discipline to work them.

9. PROBLEMS AND NEEDS
A problem can create an opportunity for someone who has a solution.
Joseph did not only interpret Pharaoh's dream; he provided a strategy for managing the coming famine.
Genesis 41:33
“Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt.”
Joseph's solution became the pathway to his promotion.
Instead of asking only, “What can I get?, ask, What problem can I solve?”

May your decisions and choices be guided by His spirit in Jesus's name Amen.

The Wonders of Opportunities.

“I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it…”

1. God Is the Giver of Opportunities
Every good opportunity comes from God. He opens doors at the right time, and what God opens, no man can shut.
James 1:17
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above…”
Ecclesiastes 9:11 (KJV)
“…the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong… but time and chance happeneth to them all.”

2. Opportunities Must Be Recognized
An opportunity can come and pass if we fail to recognize it. We must discern God's visitation and identify the doors He is opening.
Luke 19:44 (KJV)
“…because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.”
John 5:6 (KJV)
“When Jesus saw him lie… he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?”

3. Opportunities Require Preparation
God-given opportunities favour those who are prepared. Diligence, wisdom, learning, and faithfulness position us for greater doors.
Proverbs 22:29 (KJV)
“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings…”
Genesis 41:39–40 (KJV)
“Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art…”

4. Opportunities Demand Action
Recognizing an opportunity is not enough; we must act. Faith must be accompanied by obedience and works.
James 2:17 (KJV)
“Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.”
Matthew 25:29 (KJV)
“For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance…”

5. Opportunities Produce Wonders
A single opportunity can change the course of a person's life.
David: His opportunity led him from the shepherd's field to the throne.
1 Samuel 16:13 (KJV)
“Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him…”
Esther: She recognized that her position was an opportunity to save her people.
Esther 4:14 (KJV)
“…who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
Peter: His obedience to Jesus turned an empty fishing trip into a miraculous catch.
Luke 5:4–6 (KJV)
“…Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught… and they inclosed a great multitude of fishes…”

Conclusion
Opportunities are divine doors to progress, promotion, breakthrough, and purpose. God is still opening doors, but we must recognize the opportunity, prepare for it, and take action.

Remember: One God-given opportunity can change your life, transform your family, elevate your ministry, and alter your destiny.

Prayer: Lord, open my eyes to recognize every opportunity You bring my way, give me the wisdom and preparation to maximize them, and grant me the grace to act at the right time, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Be Grateful

Psalm 103:1–5
"Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits." (Psalm 103:1–2)

Introduction
Gratitude is not merely saying, "Thank you." It is a lifestyle of recognizing God's goodness and appreciating the people He has used to bless our lives. A grateful person never forgets God's benefits or the kindness of others.

Many people remember their problems more than their blessings, but God commands us to remember His goodness.

1 Thessalonians 5:18
"In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."
A thankful heart attracts God's presence, while an ungrateful heart shuts the door to greater blessings.

1. Show Gratitude Through Words of Appreciation
Never assume people know you are thankful. Say it.

Psalm 107:1
"O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever."

Proverbs 15:23
"A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!"

Thank God daily.
Appreciate your spouse.
Thank your parents.
Appreciate your pastor.
Thank your employer and helpers.

2. Show Gratitude Through Service
One of the greatest ways to thank God is by serving Him faithfully.
Service is love in action.

Joshua 24:15
"As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."

Galatians 5:13
"...by love serve one another."

Colossians 3:23
"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men."

Serve God in the church. Serve humanity. Volunteer where you can.

3. Show Gratitude Through Good Works
A grateful person becomes a blessing to others.

Matthew 5:16
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

Titus 3:8
"...be careful to maintain good works."
Help someone. Visit the sick. Support the needy. Encourage the discouraged.

4. Show Gratitude Through Kindness
God has shown us mercy; therefore, we should extend mercy to others.

Ephesians 4:32
"Be ye kind one to another..."

Proverbs 19:17

Thanksgiving should include giving back to God.

7. Show Gratitude Through Obedience
The greatest proof that we love and appreciate God is obedience.

Never forget those who helped you.

One way to appreciate people is to pray for them.

TOPIC: THE GRATEFUL HEART

Introduction
A grateful heart is one that recognizes God's goodness, remembers His faithfulness, and responds with thanksgiving, love, obedience, and service. Gratitude is not merely saying "thank you"; it is a way of life that reflects appreciation to God and to the people He uses to bless us.

1. What Is a Grateful Heart?
A grateful heart is a heart that acknowledges that every good thing comes from God and does not take His blessings for granted.

James 1:17
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."

Psalm 103:2
"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits."

A grateful person remembers God's goodness instead of focusing only on what is still lacking.

2. Why Is It Good to Show Appreciation?

(a) Thanksgiving Honors God.
Psalm 50:23
"Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; and to him who orders his conduct aright I will show the salvation of God."

(b) Thanksgiving Is God's Will for Every Believer.
1 Thessalonians 5:18
"In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."

(c) Thanksgiving Brings Peace and Joy.
Philippians 4:6-7
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

3. How Do We Express Our Gratitude to God?
(a) Through Praise and Worship
Psalm 100:4
"Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name."

(b) Through Obedience
John 14:15
"If you love Me, keep My commandments."
Obedience is one of the greatest expressions of gratitude.

(c) Through Serving God
Romans 12:1
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service."
Serving God faithfully is a practical way of saying, "Thank You, Lord."

(d) Through Giving
2 Corinthians 9:7
"So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver."

4. How Do We Show Gratitude to People?
God often blesses us through people. A grateful heart appreciates those whom God has used.

(a) By Saying "Thank You"
Romans 13:7
"Render therefore to all their due... honor to whom honor.
"
(b) By Showing Love and Kindness
Hebrews 13:16
"But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased."

(c) By Caring for Others
Galatians 6:10
"Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith."

(d) By Praying for Those Who Have Blessed Us
1 Samuel 2:18-20 reminds us that Hannah appreciated Eli's encouragement, and Eli blessed her in return.

5. What Does a Grateful Heart Produce?
A life of humility.
Joy in every season.
A deeper relationship with God.
A willingness to serve.
Love for others.
Generosity.
Contentment.
Colossians 3:15
"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts... and be thankful."

6. What Happens When We Are Ungrateful?
The Bible warns against forgetting God's goodness.
Deuteronomy 8:10-14
"When you have eaten and are full... then your heart be lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God."
Ungratefulness often leads to pride, disobedience, and spiritual decline.

7. Jesus' Example of Gratitude
Jesus Himself always gave thanks to the Father.
John 6:11
"And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples."
Even before performing miracles, Jesus gave thanks.

Conclusion
A grateful heart is a heart that remembers God's goodness, praises Him continually, obeys His Word, serves Him faithfully, and appreciates the people He has placed in our lives. Gratitude should be seen not only in our words but also in our actions, our love, our giving, our service, and our daily conduct.
