🚨 YOUR PIGS CAN BE EATING POISON WITHOUT YOU KNOWING!
Not every feed problem is caused by poor formulation. Sometimes the danger is hidden inside the ingredients. Mycotoxins are harmful substances produced by moulds that can grow on grains and feed ingredients.
They may not change the smell or appearance of your feed, but they can quietly reduce your pigs’ performance and your farm profits. 💰🐷
⚠️ SIGNS OF MYCOTOXIN PROBLEMS:
🔴 Poor growth
🔴 Reduced feed intake
🔴 Vomiting or diarrhoea
🔴 Weak immunity and frequent sickness

🐷📏 DAY 33 — HOW TO USE A TAPE TO ESTIMATE YOUR PIG’S WEIGHT!
Did you know you can estimate your pig’s weight without an expensive weighing scale? 💡 All you need is a measuring tape and two quick measurements!
📌 STEP 1 — Measure Length
Measure along the back, from the base of the ears to the base of the tail.
📌 STEP 2 — Measure Heart Girth
Wrap the tape around the pig’s body just behind the front legs at the widest part of the chest.
📌 STEP 3 — Calculate the Estimated Weight
When measuring in centimetres (cm), use the standard livestock metric formula:
Weight ( kg) = grith^2 x length /11880

Example:
Girth = 75 cm
Length = 100 cm
Calculation: (75 \times 75 \times 100) \div 11,880 = \mathbf{47.3\text{ kg}}
⚠️ IMPORTANT TIPS:
Keep the pig standing squarely on level ground while measuring.
Ensure the tape is snug around the chest—not pulled too tight or left too loose.
Tape measurements provide a accurate close estimate, not an exact weigh-scale figure.

🐷 DAY 30 — ASF vs CSF: CAN YOU TELL THE DIFFERENCE? 🚨
Two dangerous diseases. Two different viruses. One big lesson: don’t guess—act fast!
🐷 AFRICAN SWINE FEVER (ASF)
🔴 Caused by African swine fever virus
🔴 Can cause very high mortality
🔴 Spreads through infected pigs, contaminated materials, pork products and, in some regions, soft ticks
🔴 There is currently no widely available commercial vaccine for ASF
🔴 Strict biosecurity and rapid reporting are critical
🐷 CLASSICAL SWINE FEVER (CSF)
🔵 Caused by classical swine fever virus
🔵 Can cause fever, weakness, bleeding, diarrhea and reproductive problems
🔵 Spreads mainly through infected pigs and contaminated materials/products
🔵 Effective vaccines are available and used for control in many regions
🔵 Biosecurity + vaccination programmes are important control tools
⚠️ THE BIG WARNING:
ASF and CSF can look similar. You cannot reliably tell them apart just by looking at a sick pig. Laboratory testing is needed for confirmation.
🚨 If you notice sudden deaths, high fever, bleeding, severe weakness or unusual illness, isolate affected animals, stop unnecessary movement and contact a veterinarian/animal-health authority immediately.

A pig can survive for a while with reduced feed, but water is essential every day for digestion, body-temperature control, growth, reproduction and overall performance.
💧 CHECK YOUR WATER SYSTEM DAILY:
✅ Clean, fresh water available 24/7
✅ Drinkers working properly
✅ No blocked or leaking ni***es
✅ Water source protected from contamination
✅ Clean drinkers and water lines regularly
✅ Watch for reduced drinking or unusual behaviour
✅ Provide extra attention during hot weather

Internal parasites compete with your pigs for nutrients, slowing growth and reducing feed efficiency. A pig may be eating well but still fail to perform when worms are affecting its health.

Pigs don’t sweat like humans, so high temperatures can put serious stress on them. You may notice panting, reduced feed intake, weakness, poor growth, fertility problems and increased health risks.
🔥 PROTECT YOUR PIGS FROM HEAT STRESS:
✅ Ensure good ventilation and airflow
✅ Provide plenty of clean, cool water
✅ Provide shade and reduce direct sunlight
✅ Use appropriate cooling systems such as sprinklers or misters
