I was just sitting peacefully, minding my business, enjoying motherhood until my baby girl showed up with serious intentions. Before I could ask, “What are you doing?” my eyes had already been recruited as a practice canvas.
One eye was serving bold and confident.
The other eye was going through something… personal.
There was eyeshadow in places eyeshadow has never been before. My eyelids were confused. My eyebrows were drawn with so much passion they no longer belonged to my face. One liner was sharp, the other was fighting for its life. Mascara? Let’s not even talk about it my lashes were stuck together like they were holding a meeting.
When I finally looked in the mirror…
I screamed.
I didn’t look human.
I looked like ojuju that escaped during makeup rehearsal.
If witches had a graduation ceremony, this would be the final exam look. One eye said “glam”, the other said “don’t come close”. Even the mirror looked offended. I scared myself small.
Meanwhile, my baby girl stood there smiling proudly, admiring her work like a professional makeup artist. In her eyes, I was beautiful. In my eyes… I needed holy water and makeup remover immediately.
Motherhood will humble you.
One minute you’re a fine parent, the next minute you’re walking around looking like a before-and-after picture that refused to after 😂💄
But honestly? I laughed till my stomach hurt because if love had a face, it would be that ojuju-looking face filled with joy 💕
