The Pulitzer Center has unveiled a new initiative, Lavwa Lenpak, Africa Content Creators Program, inviting African-based content creators with a passion for ocean conservation to apply for its maiden edition.

Daily Feeds Newspapers LTD has found that Pulitzer, an international center with headquarteres in Washington D.C., is an independent non-profit organisation renowned for funding impactful investigative journalism and advancing underreported stories across the world.

Since its founding in 2006, it has worked with leading newsrooms, universities and media innovators, making it one of the most influential journalism support institutions globally.

The programme, which is designed to select ten participants, is aimed at connecting creators with Pulitzer-supported journalists and stories, with the goal of transforming investigative journalism into compelling content for young African audiences.

The initiative, according to Pulitzer Center, aims to deepen civic engagement, promote media literacy and inspire dialogue on pressing environmental issues, particularly those relating to ocean conservation, through fusing trusted reporting with creative storytelling.

According to the organisers, successful applicants will receive a stipend of $700 to support content production, in addition to training in ethical storytelling, fact-checking, and journalism for content creation.

“They will also benefit from collaborations with African journalists and gain exposure through features on Pulitzer Center platforms.” The promo said.

The call is open to digital creators active on TikTok, Instagram or YouTube, Facebook, who can adapt journalism into innovative formats such as mini-documentaries, podcasts, explainers or interactive sessions that will resonate with Africa’s growing online community.

Applications close on 10 September 2025, with the Pulitzer Center urging creators across the continent to seize the opportunity to join the programme’s first cohort.

AC MAIWADA: Matashin Bakatsinen Da Ya Shahara A Fannin Hulɗa Da Jama'a A Harkokin Gwamnati

Duk da cewa Maiwada ya shahara a matakin ƙasa, da dama daga cikin jama’a ba su san cewa ɗan Jihar Katsina ne ba, wanda bugu da ƙari, an haife shi ne ma a Karamar Hukumar Katsina. A gaskiya, yana da ginshiƙan zuri’a masu tarihi da tasiri a ilimi da shugabanci a Arewacin Najeriya.

Abdullahi Aliyu Maiwada ya fara karatunsa ne na farko tun yana da ƙuruciya a cikin jami'ar Bayero ta Kano, wato Staff Primary School Kano (1992–1997), ya ci gaba da sakandire a Government Science Secondary School Dutsin-Ma dake Jihar Katsina. Bayan nan kuma ya karanci ilimin taswirar ƙasa, wato Geography Education a matsayin digiri na farko a Bayero University Kano, daga baya kuma yayi digirin—digirgir a fannin kula da muhalli, wato Environmental Management a shekarar 2011.

Janar Manaja na tsarin zamanantar da kasuwanci na hukumar hana fasa kwauri ta kasa mai taken TMP, Ahmad Ogunshola a ranar Talata 4 ga watan Yuni ya bayyana fatan cewa tsarin zamanantarwa da aka fito da shi zai taimakawa Najeriya mussaman a fannin tattara kudaden shiga.

A yayin ziyarar manema kabarai a ofishin jami'an shirin a birnin tarayya Abuja, Ahmad ya ce " Shirin zai samar da harajin Dala Biliyan 250 ga gwamnatin tsawon lokacin da aka dibar masa".

Acewarsa, shirin ya riki babbar damar habbaka tattara kudaden shiga ta hanyar amfani da fasahar zamani "Wanda hakan zai zama mai Alfanu ga Gwamnatin tarayya".

Shirin na TMP zai hada da shigar da ayyukan kasuwanci na hukumar hana fasa kwauri ta kasa da kuma bunkasa abinda masu ruwa da tsaki ke koya a fannin hada hadar kasuwanci. Hakan zai hada da bin hanyoyin samun amincewa wajen shige da ficen kayayyaki da biyan kudin harajin shigo da kaya da kuma sakin kayan.

Ya bayyana cewa shirin na zamanantarwar zai matso da Najeriya kusa a fannin hada hadar kasuwancin duniya ta hanyar amfani da fasahar zamani. Haka kuma shirin zai tallafawa kudurin gwamnati na bunkasa tattalin arziki ta hanyar saukaka kasuwancin kasa da kasa.

Ogunshola yayi bayanin cewa aiwatar da dukkan shirin na TMP zai shafi dukkan ayyukan hukumar Kwastom, ciki har da karbar haraji da tantance kayayyaki da kokarin yaki da fasa kwauri.

Da yake jawabi ga manema labarai, mai magana da yawun hukumar hana fasa kwauri ta kasa, CSC Abdullahi Maiwada ya ce ziyarar an yita ne domin yiwa al'umma jawabi kan ci gaban da aka samu daga tsarin na TMP wanda aka fara tsawon shekaru domin kula al'amuran kasuwanci.

Hukumar hana fasa kwauri ta kasa ta hada kai da shirin domin samar da na'urar tantance madaukai wacce zata iya tantance madaukai 200 cikin awa guda. Wannan tsari karkashin jagorancin babban konturola janar, Adewale Adeniyi an yi shi ne domin rage lokacin tantance madaukan kaya.

COWA Apapa Command Holds Maiden Meeting, Solicits Comptroller Olomu's Support

As Nigeria Customs Service deploys Comptroller Babatunde Olomu to head Apapa Command, the Command's chairperson of the Customs Officers' Wives Association (COWA), Mrs. Funsho Olomu, has called on officers' wives at the Apapa Command to join the association to benefit from its goodies.

Mrs. Olomu made this call in Lagos on Thursday 30th May, 2024, when she led her executives members on a courtesy visit to the Customs Area Controller, Babatunde Olomu, adding "our association considers every wife of officer as a family member, hence the need to come en masse to become registered members of the association."

The meeting, which is first of its kind since the appointment of Mrs. Olomu as the new chairperson of COWA's Apapa branch, revolved around paving ways to sensitise members and revive the activities of the association in the command.

Customs Area Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, on his part, expressed delight to see the team and promised to support them in all ramification within his power, adding "my contribution to COWA will continue to be sustained, and I will intimate my officers during our parade to encourage their wives to be part of the good initiative of COWA."

In a separate occasion, Mrs. Olomu also coordinated another historic visit to Marine Beach and Liverpool Road barracks, where they engaged other officers' wives and rubbed minds with them on key plans to strengthen the presence of the association in the formation.

Also, in her efforts to key into President Kikelomo's agenda of cushioning women with skills to become self-relient, Mrs. Funsho further visited the spa area within the Command complex, where she vowed to conduct national healthy wife wealthy life quarterly programmes.

Kperogi is a Deadly Venomous Vulture, Avoid him

Before I spill the beans about who ‘exactly’ Professor Farooq Kperogi is, let me, for the sake of fairness, admit the fact that Kperogi is endowed with a huge talent and always knows his hand - when it comes to writing and speaking BIG grammar. Even though, his ‘write-ups and phraseology’ often end up more like prosaic statements; they have least or no meaning at all. And, people hardly figure out what exactly Kperogi wants!

I can vouch that, his natural gift is doubtlessly what bewitched many people to become his hot-blooded supporters over night - unknowingly. They can use offensive words against anybody opposing his views. But one thing I want to assure them is, I will gird my lions to remain insouciant to whatever name this write-up would cause them [Kperogi's accidental camp followers] to give me, because their words will forever be of less important like a water off a duck's back to me.

Second of all, I would want to, at this point, categorically dispel any controversy or emotional tension this piece may develop in people's minds, to think that I have either been hired to write in favour of Professor Osinbajo, or I am supporting his presidential candidacy. No! I have never supported PYO's political movement or take part in anything his. But we all need to know that, ‘a real hero is he, who stays with his people in whatever situation to fight for their freedom; and not that who hides somewhere far fluting sounds to deceive them’.

We all know that, before Professor Farooq Kperogi launched his malicious attack on Professor Osinbajo's personality and ‘probably’ his reputation; Professor Isa Ibrahim Ali Pantami was the first victim to have suffered in his hand - even though, Kperogi always has reasons for doing so. I will state his reason for that, later - with definitive evidences. Follow!

It baffled me to have seen how Kperogi's ‘accidental camp followers’ collectively ganged up against me, after I posted a 25-word piece on my facebook account - trying to enlighten the public about what I think they all should know about Kperogi's Shiism; his behavioral attitude; how he got migrated to US long time ago - and why he must not poke his nose into Nigeria's affairs, because he has already lost touch in the country. How many years?

For now, let's not talk about Kperogi's sect of Shiism, because, that is not my problem and may not even interest many folks - despite the fact that Shi'a is one of his core reasons for attacking Professor Pantami, beside his enmity and antagonism to hear about someone's success. Of course, he played this card, after Pantami was legally given professorship by a Nigerian University - and he will now be called a Prof. like him. I will deliberately and purposefully skip this, because some people are of the opinion that Kperogi's sect must not be a focal point - as long as his fatherland is Nigeria and he is a Muslim. They think Shi'a must not be considered to be a valid reason for denouncing his criticisms against some individuals in Nigeria. Especially that which relates PYO. Okay!

Before I continue to rev the engine of my discussion about this Atlantan Venomous Professor, I must clearly state that Farooq Kperogi is a green eyed-monster, whose upmost behavior is envy, jealousy - and, yes, he delusionally feels he's better than everyone. I mean, everyone! Kperogi, right before he packed his baggage and took to the woods for retreat in America, his habit in terms of writing was a ‘pay before service’ policy - he will never agree to put his pen on a sheet or his fingertips on LCD screen without been paid...or asked to. Hence, the reason everyone must be wary of him, and his evil plans.

When we carefully look at Professor Farooq Kperogi's write-ups, or let me use what people think of his pieces to be - “a prompt revelation of truth” against some individuals he paints to be the ill-wishers of the country he ran from for years...they are clearly meant to attract the attention of the subjects he ‘always’ target to be his preys. Not long enough, the same Kperogi composed an article about Bola Ahmad Tinubu, another Nigeria's Presidential Aspirant, depicting that he's from Borno - and stuff. But, if Kperogi will be asked to explain who actually bankrolled the project of selling Bola Ahmad Tinubu to Northerners, through taking a step of ‘first’ letting them to know that his ancestors were from Borno State - and for this reason he should be considered as a son of the soil...believe me, his answers will not be convincing.

To many people, Kperogi seemed to be the first ‘comic writer’ to unveil this story of being a Borno guy - Tinubu himself or any of his allies have never mentioned anything like that. And why hath that information skipped Kperogi's mind until when it's too close to 2023 general elections? And in the whole south, Tinubu doesn't have any opponent whose strength matches Osinbajo's in APC - I am sure Kperogi would have mounted his venomous pressure against him, if there were. So, isn't that raising an alarm?

We may believe him that Rotimi Amaechi was not the one financing or funding his write-ups; that he's only doing that for the purpose of rescuing Nigeria from plunging into mud or something. Haha. Kperogi making move to rescue Nigeria? Kperogi is an irritating joker. Believe me, he's been sponsored for this. But we just have to look at this picture. There is what in journalism is called “newspaper agenda” amongst other rules that guide media institutions or practitioners to exercise or support some political movements in privy. These media practitioners, when required to blackmail anyone, will be equipped with every relevant and irrelevant information they may need, in order to tarnish the image(s) of their “quarries”. Even though, PYO and Pantami will never put their knees to the ground in fear of Kperogi's attack. I know that!

Kperogi, literally, started with praising Tinubu - the same Old and Weak Tinubu who was allegedly accused of committing huge financial misconduct; whose name is still on the list of EFCC and stuff - and picked up topics against PYO. It is obvious that Tinubu's supporters have all zipped up their mouths, laughing at PYO and providing Kperogi with more information about their 2023 threat, PYO. And, to attract Northerners more, Kperogi and his ghost sponsors decide to frame PYO as a “religious extremist” using the term “RCCGification” and of course the issue of employing Christians in his office. They say, more than Muslims.

Yes, as Muslim, I would love to hear that PYO hath employed enough Muslims in his office to work together with other Christians, he or the presidency had employed...but let's exercise some justice at this juncture. I don't want mention names, but let's look back at how other previous VPs worked. Did all the Muslim VPs we had in this country worked with or employed (in their offices) the same number of Christians as Muslims? Why? Surely because, these positions are political (even though we're talking about one Nigeria) but, whenever we're given any responsibility to execute some certain task(s) that require the help of some people, traditionally, we employ the people we have known to be of good character; probably those we lived with right before the opportunity to work with us. Not some that we don't know. And this is applicable to all the Christian VPs we had also. Let's think; work and find out.

Osinbajo, even though is a Christian and a Pastor - yet he employed some Muslims, and majority of his empowerment projects were first introduced in the North. And so many times if President Buhari is leaving Nigeria for either official assignment or medical trip, Northerners are the first set of people that gladly commend Buhari for giving power to his VP, because they know he's capable of doing the job.

But Kperogi deliberately capitalizes on this ‘religious topic’ because his target (if not taken this way) will not be achieved - as Northerners often take every problem less harmful, once it doesn't affect their religion. He is simply playing with the mindsets of people...transforming them into a first class idiots. His envy to everything progressive won't allow him to focus on his business; he always want to be the topic of discussion; he's not truly doing what he is doing for the sake of Nigeria or Nigerians.

Otherwise, how many year had he spent outside, why don't he come back and serve. Kperogi is just a coward - who stays behind the keyboard; compose lines on contract to confuse people. He can't come back. We know why he left!
