It was a statement afternoon in Aba as Enyimba International FC continued their quest for survival in this season’s Nigerian Premier Football League, brushing aside Katsina United FC with a commanding 3–0 victory in Aba.
From the first whistle, Enyimba looked sharp, purposeful, and hungry. The breakthrough came in the 23rd minute when Stanley Dimgba found space in the box and finished with confidence, sending the home crowd into early celebration. It was a goal that settled nerves and set the tone for what was to come.
Eight minutes later, the People’s Elephant doubled their lead. Chidera Michael nodded home a perfect freekick from Ufere Chinedu, leaving Katsina United chasing shadows. At 2–0 before the break, Enyimba were firmly in control, dictating the tempo and winning most of the midfield battles.
The visitors tried to respond after the restart, pushing forward in search of a lifeline, but got that hopes dashed after Uche Collins missed a penalty.
In the 79th minute, Kelvin added the third goal, calmly sealing an emphatic win. By then, it was clear there would be no way back for the visitors.
Beyond the goals, this was a performance built on discipline, structure, and clinical finishing. Enyimba controlled the game in key moments and showed the kind of sharpness that could prove vital as the season edges closer.
For Katsina United, it was a difficult outing, one where they were second best for long spells and ultimately punished for lapses at both ends of the pitch.

*NPFL 26: Abia Warriors Take On Bendel Insurance In Benin*
Continental chasing Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia have safely landed in Benin City ahead of their weekend battle against the Benin Arsenals, Bendel Insurance Football Club, in a high-stakes encounter that is billed to give football followers value for their money.
Fresh from a gritty and hard-earned triumph over Bayelsa United, Abia Warriors now turn their gaze toward a crucial test as they face Bendel Insurance in a decisive Matchday 34 fixture of the Nigeria Premier Football League.
Like a ship that has weathered the storm, and confidence steaming in their veins, the Warriors will deploy their defense systems and activate Air-to-Surface missiles to ward off Insurance attacks and initiate forays of their own, knowing that any indemnity from Bendel Insurance is as good as surrendering all three points at stake, which is tantamount to throwing in the towel on their Continental aspirations.
But the task ahead is anything but simple. The Benin Arsenals have proven to be a resilient and disciplined side, especially when playing on home soil, and they can equally be a hard nut to crack at away games, as they demonstrated in the reverse league fixture by holding Umu Chineke to a goalless draw at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
The tide may have turned, but the winds of change are blowing, and the Warriors are ready to harness that energy to keep their dreams alive.
As the season reaches its crescendo, the stakes have risen significantly. The Warriors sit fourth on the league table with 52 points and three points behind the table toppers, while Bendel Insurance occupy the sixth position with 46 points.
Recent meetings between the two sides paint a picture of a closely contested rivalry. In their last five encounters, Abia Warriors have claimed victory twice, Bendel Insurance triumphed once, while two ended in a barren draw.
As the Warriors step onto the pitch in Benin, they will give it their all to leave Benin with a positive result. Every pass, every tackle, every shot will echo with intent, as they are determined to sustain the momentum and chase Continental slots.
