Electricity Tarriff Hike Hits Erongo

The Erongo regional electricity distributor, Erongo RED, today notified their customers that the Electricity Control Board (ECB) has approved a 3.7% tariff increase for Erongo RED, effective 1 July 2025. Prepaid tariffs will increase at midnight on Tuesday, 8 July 2025. The detailed schedule of all tariff categories (including conventional tariffs) will be communicated in due course, the notification states.

BREAKING: The Electricity Control Board (ECB) has approved a 3.8% tariff increase for NamPower. ECB CEO Robert Kahimise announced the decision this morning.

NamPower had applied for a 17.44% bulk tariff increase for the 2025/26 financial year. The approved increase follows a review based on the ECB’s tariff review methodology and will come into effect on 1 July 2025.
