The Financial Literacy Initiative (FLI) was initiated by the Ministry of Finance in 2009 with support of the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). Minister of Finance, Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, officially launched the FLI in 2012. More than 40 platform partners from the Namibian public, private and civil society sector are part of the FLI platform.

We recently concluded the Financial Wellness Workplace Program Training across several key locations in the North. By equipping our audience with essential tools for budgeting, saving, and debt management, we are fostering a more resilient and focused workforce.

The FLI together with the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare, as well as dedicated trainers from each region of Namibia, is proud to be executing the Early Child Development (ECD) program, a groundbreaking effort to equip children across Namibia with the knowledge and tools they need to make sound financial decisions in the future.
Using puppets, storytelling, play-money, and other creative tools, this program is reaching 4 091 centres nationwide, bringing vital financial lessons to children across Namibia.
Through this initiative, we are not only teaching children about money, we are shaping a generation ready to make wise choices and build a stronger Namibia.
