Letshego Bank Namibia Marks Key Digital Payments Milestone with Instant Payment.

Letshego Bank Namibia has successfully completed the Government-to-Person (G2P) phase of Namibia’s Instant Payment Programme (IPP) and is now ready for receive Government-to-Person (G2P) payments, reinforcing momentum behind the country’s push for real-time digital payments and financial inclusion.

The milestone earned the bank a certificate of recognition from Instant Payment Namibia (IPN), the company leading the rollout of the national instant payment infrastructure.

Letshego Bank Namibia CEO Ester Kali affirmed that the achievement reflects the bank’s commitment to aligning digital innovation with national development priorities. “We have positioned this initiative not only as a compliance requirement but as a national priority. It presents real opportunities to unlock lasting value for the nation,” Kali emphasised.

The G2P capability enables government payments, including social grants and pensions, to be transferred instantly to recipients through their respective Letshego Transactional Bank Accounts, a development seen as critical to advancing financial inclusion, particularly for underserved communities.

IPN Chief Operating Officer Marsorry Ickua described Letshego’s progress as a strong gesture of growing ecosystem adoption. “The completion of this phase confirms that the programme is gaining traction and that institutions are stepping up to build Namibia’s digital payments future,” said Ickua.

With the G2P milestone achieved, Letshego is now developing the next wave of instant payment services for its customers including Person-to-Person (P2P) transfers, Business-to-Business (B2B) payments, and cash in and cash out capabilities. Each of these builds on the G2P foundation to ensure that instant, affordable payments become a reality for every Namibian, not just grant recipients.

For Letshego, the G2P go-live is both a celebration and a promise. It is a commitment to keep building the infrastructure that gives every Namibian equal access to their money, and equal opportunity to improve their lives.
