Congratulations Penang-ites, Your Island Is Now Officially A City!
After four long years, Putrajaya has approved Penang Island's application for a city status. This change in status could mean more influence in jurisdictional powers, as well as the capacity for the city council to hire more staff and officers.
More details will be revealed after the Yang di-Pertuan Agong makes the proclamation.

The second Penang bridge, measuring 24km long, is now opened for use! It connects Batu Kawan on the mainland Malay Peninsula with Seberang Perai and Batu Maung on Penang Island.
