Winter Solstice Festival, also known as Dongzhi Festival falls between Dec 21 - 23 every year. This year it is celebrated on Dec 21.
On this day, the Northern hemisphere have the shortest day and the longest night. This day also informally known as "everyone's birthday", as it is the first day of a new solar term and everyone becomes a year older.
While traditions and customs vary in different areas, in Malaysia it is celebrated with family coming together as a family and enjoying a winter Solstice delicacy - tang yuan. It is a glutinous rice ball with a variety of sweet fillings such as black sesame, peanuts or red bean. These glutinous rice balls are boiled and then served with a sweet ginger syrup.
Some prefer to make tang yuan from scratch but you can also find ready-made tang yuan in the frozen section of the supermarket. It will save you tons of time!
Do you have your tang yuan ready?

It is a season of gifting this month. When it comes to finding something as an exchanged gift, sometimes I find it is hard to find the suitable one. I don't know about you, but personally I love practical gift irregardless of the price. After all, it is from the heart.
So this one here is so close to me because I started my holistic journey with a kit containing a diffuser and 10 oils. It has been 10 years now.
I couldn't think of a better gift than gifting this Cactus diffuser. It is so sleek and stylish. Its small size makes it portable and if you are like me, this is perfect for travel as well because it is light weight. This is USB-C power which makes it easy to use on desks or nightstands too
I have yet to own this diffuser yet. Ahh.. Tempting to own one.. But then again.. I sti have others that are still in the box 😂.
So I am gifting this as an exchanged gift together with 2 of 5ml oils which are from the starter kit.
Would you be happy if you receive this for the Christmas exchanged gift?
Entering the 2nd week of December.
How did time flies to this month this year is beyond me. I felt like this year just went by so fast. Is it just me?
15 more days and 2 Friday nights of sleep before Christmas day.
How is your Christmas preparation so far? Bought your gifts and Christmas outfit yet?
Hello November. Starting this month with a grateful heart ♥️.

Say Goodbye to Harsh Chemicals: DIY Natural Hand Soap!
Join me as I replenished my hand soap. This is how easy it is step by step to DIY your hand soap at home.
Non-toxic products are generally gentler on the skin compared to retail hand soaps due to the following differences:
1. Free from Harsh Chemicals
Retail Hand Soaps:
◾Often contain sulfates (like SLS or SLES) that strip away natural oils from the skin, leaving it dry and irritated.
◾May include synthetic fragrances and dyes, which can cause allergic reactions, redness, or sensitivity.
Non-Toxic Products:
🌱Use natural oils (like coconut, olive, or almond it Vit-E oil) as cleansers that clean without drying out the skin.
🌱Contain essential oils or plant-based scents that are less likely to cause irritation.
2. Better Moisturization
Retail Hand Soaps:
◾Include alcohol or preservatives that can dehydrate the skin over time.
◾Some brands add moisturizers, but they often come with synthetic additives.
Non-Toxic Products:
🌱Adding in glycerin (a byproduct of natural soap-making), which locks in moisture and keeps skin hydrated.
3. No Hidden Toxins
Retail Hand Soaps:
◾Often include triclosan, parabens, or phthalates, which may disrupt hormones or trigger skin problems in the long term.
Non-Toxic Products:
🌱Avoid these harmful additives, focusing on simple, skin-friendly, and safe ingredients.
4. Customizable for Sensitive Skin
Retail Hand Soaps:
◾Mass-produced with a one-size-fits-all formula, which may not suit individuals with eczema, psoriasis, or other sensitivities.
Non-Toxic Products:
🌱Customizable, allowing you to choose ingredients that cater specifically to your skin’s needs.
5. Long-Term Skin Health
Retail Hand Soaps:
◾Frequent use may lead to cumulative damage, like dryness, flakiness, or loss of skin elasticity.
Non-Toxic Products:
🌱Support the skin's natural barrier and promote healthier, softer, and more balanced skin over time.
By ditching retail hand soaps and switching to non-toxic alternatives, you’re not only avoiding harmful ingredients but actively nourishing and protecting your skin.
Try out this simple DIY hand soap recipe. Let me know in the comments if you’ve made your own natural products before, or if you’re excited to give this a try!

For the love of homecooked meal
As a full time working mum, I used to struggle preparing homecooked meals on weekdays not until I put the intention to have a structured weekly routine. That would means to have a decent and solid sleep for at least 6 hours for me to be able to function well the next day on top of having a ready homecooked meal for breakfast and lunch with exception when my son has afternoon tuition after school where we will have our lunch outside.
This post is not to show my cooking skills but more to journal of how I managed to have more homecooked meals these days.
We often hear about having the will power, our whys and consistency to achieve the things we want. Usually in the context of fulfilling a goal or dream. Well in my case, I want to have more homecooked meals.
I changed my routine by having my bedtime at 9pm or latest by 9.30pm for me to have at least 6 hours of sleep and rest. It is crucial for me to have decent sleeping hours. I have to calibrate this routine post new year and it took a few days to get back to the structured routine.
When I first started to have this routine, honestly, it took some getting used to it. I used to sleep at 11pm and some time close to midnight. There will also be days when I have to stay late at work and it affected the routine which I will need to adjust sometimes. Sleep is gold for our health and I am more intentional about it these days.
Yes, having take out food would be an easy option especially for a full time working mum like me but with small changes, I managed to have more homecooked meals these days.
It is a huge blessing and gratitude to be having homecooked meals which something I will not take this for granted.
