Duty Free Allowances (cigarette issues)

One problem I see frequently here in Mexico is visitors exceeding their allowances for ci******es. In Particular with guests visiting from the U.K.

Now ci******es here cost around 50 peso (£2) for a pack of 20 so there should be no need to bring out a suitcase full but if you do exceed the 200 cigarette allowance the penalties are very very heavy. I've had guests paying up to 10,000 peso for an extra 200 ci******es. That's over £400!!!

I would urge everyone to avoid carrying ci******es into Mexico. If you do need to bring ci******es here please remember your allowance is 200 per person over 18 years old. The ci******es must be carried by the individual who owns them. If a husband and wife carry 400 ci******es in 1 bag they will be fined.

Chac-Mool is a beach area with the Cancun hotel zone. Free parking for around 20 vehicles, shower and toilet facilities. 70 peso for 2 sunbeds and umbrella. Plenty of baby turtles hatching at the top of the beach. As this beach is situated in front of apartments rather than hotels it tends to be a bit quieter than most.
