Pakaya Initiative Joins NGORA-Led Meeting on Compliance, Reporting & International Partnerships
Pakaya, a registered member organization with the Non-Governmental Organizations Regulatory Authority (NGORA), took part in a high-level meeting convened by NGORA today 4th june 2026. The forum brought together NGO representatives to strengthen understanding of NGORA’s regulatory framework and improve accountability across the sector.
The meeting emphasized three key areas for all registered organizations:
Understanding NGORA Regulations
NGORA officials stressed that compliance with the NGO Act and its regulations is not optional. Organizations were reminded to align their operations, governance structures, and programs with national standards to maintain good standing and protect beneficiaries.
Timely Reporting
A major focus was on mandatory reporting. NGORA highlighted that regular submission of activity reports, financial reports, and annual returns helps build trust with government, donors, and communities. Late or missing reports, they warned, can affect an organization’s registration status and access to future partnerships.
Registering International Partnership Agreements
NGORA also urged NGOs to formally register all partnership agreements with international organizations. The Authority noted that documenting these agreements ensures transparency, avoids duplication of projects, and protects local organizations in collaborations with foreign partners.

On Saturday, Pakaya Initiative, represented by our youth club leaders Olivia Chipeta and Emmanuel Kondowe, joined the youth of Mzuzu at the launch of the First Lady’s Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) programming initiative.
In her remarks, the First Lady encouraged young people to speak out and urged service providers and policymakers to create safe and respectful spaces where youth can freely express themselves. She advised adolescents to avoid early sexual encounters and to focus on their education, emphasizing that “everything has its time” and encouraging learners to work hard in school and complete their studies.
She also highlighted that 2 out of 5 new HIV infections occur among adolescent girls, describing the situation as a wake-up call for all stakeholders. The First Lady called for stronger interventions to address these challenges and encouraged youth organizations to expand their outreach, especially to young people in hard-to-reach areas.
We commend all partners and stakeholders working towards improving access to accurate SRHR information and youth empowerment.

Pakaya Initiative yesterday participated in a Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) training facilitated by Banja La Mtsogolo at Mphatso Motel as part of the Bergstrom Project. The training aimed to equip youth in Mzimba, Mzuzu, and Mzimba North with accurate SRHR information. Youth leaders representing various organisations and youth clubs were empowered to disseminate accurate SRHR messages to bridge the gaps caused by lack of accurate SRHR information among youths.
The event brought together youth networks and leaders from Mzuzu, Mzimba North, and Rumphi, where they shared challenges and practical solutions on how to reach more youths with reliable SRHR information.
