RYLA 2026 : A Reflection
RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) is more than just a programme. It is an experience that stays with you long after the last session ends.
This year, the Rotaract Club of Montebello was represented by two of its members โ and what a journey it was. From the very first session, the energy was undeniable. Young leaders from across the region, all gathered with one shared purpose: to discover, to exchange, to learn, and to create bonds that go beyond borders.
Rotaractor Pushali and I had the privilege of immersing ourselves in meaningful conversations, expanding our networks, and building friendships that transcend distance. Every shared moment, every exchange of ideas, every memory collected along the way served as a powerful reminder of why we are part of this great movement.
This RYLA was also made even more memorable by the presence of our Interactors from the Interact Club of Montebello. Sharing this experience alongside the next generation of our Montebello family was an honour I did not take lightly.
RYLA is not just about leadership skills. It is about the people you meet and the connections you carry home.
To Rotaractor Pushali and to every Interactor who was part of this journey โ it was a privilege sharing this experience with you all.
Unite For Good. Long live Rotary! ๐ค

On Saturday, 6th June, members of the Rotaract Club of Montebello had the privilege of organising a *Winter Drive* at BPS Care Home. The aim of this project was to ensure that the residents of the home are equipped with materials that will be of aid during the incoming winter. โ๏ธ๐งฃ
Prior to the visit, members spent the late evening of 4th June, following our monthly board meeting, preparing our donation materials with great care and attention. There was a lot of laughter, fun, and synergy involved as members worked hand in hand to make the project a success. ๐ค
The afternoon event at BPS Care Home started with the donation of blankets, diapers, and snacks to the residents. The smiles on their faces reminded us how meaningful even the smallest acts of kindness can be. ๐
With the aim of bringing joy to our lovely seniors, multiple rounds of Bingo were played, during which Rotaractors actively assisted the ladies, displaying teamwork, compassion, and a true spirit of service towards the community. The interaction between members and residents created many memorable moments and beautiful memories. ๐
The visit ended with a fiery dance session, where both residents and Rotaractors shared moments of laughter, music, and happiness, creating an atmosphere of pure joy and connection. ๐๐ถ
The residents' blessings and gratitude towards us by the end of our stay truly warmed our hearts. Members of the club are grateful to have had the opportunity to organise and participate in such a meaningful project, reminding us once again that service is not only about giving, but also about connecting, sharing, and caring for one another. ๐
A heartfelt thank you to all Rotaract members who contributed in their own way to make this project a meaningful success. Your teamwork, commitment, and spirit of service made a real difference. ๐ค

โจ RYLA 2026: A Journey I Will Never Forget โจ
RYLA 2026 was much more than a leadership programmeโit was an unforgettable journey of learning, friendship, and personal growth. ๐ I had the honour of representing the Rotaract Club of Montebello alongside our President, Aneesh Gungaram, and from day one, the experience was filled with energy, inspiration, and meaningful connections.
One of the most memorable moments for me was the opening ceremony, where my sister and I had the privilege of performing a dance to welcome participants. ๐ As someone passionate about dance, sharing that moment with such a diverse audience was truly special. I am especially grateful to District Interact Chair Leena for encouraging us to perform. Her confidence in us gave us the opportunity to showcase something we love, creating a memory that will remain close to my heart.
Beyond the sessions and activities, RYLA introduced me to incredible people and lasting friendships, particularly with members of the Rotaract Clubs of Vacoas and Flacq. ๐ค I was also inspired by the rich cultural diversity of the programme, learning from participants from Rodrigues, Seychelles, Rรฉunion, and Madagascar. These exchanges reminded me that while we come from different backgrounds, we share the same desire to learn, serve, and make a positive impact.
A heartfelt thank you to our President, Aneesh, whose constant support, encouragement, and care allowed me to fully embrace every opportunity throughout the programme.
RYLA taught me that leadership is not only about leading othersโit is about listening, learning, connecting, and growing together. ๐ I leave with unforgettable memories, lifelong friendships, and a heart full of gratitude.
To everyone who made this journey so special, thank you. ๐

โจ An opportunity that truly warmed our hearts. โจ
The members of the Rotaract Club of Montebello were honoured to join hands with our sponsor club in supporting the beautification of the yard at Allรฉe Brillant SENRDC School. ๐จ๐ซ
Demonstrating their commitment to Service Above Self, a team of dedicated Rotaractors devoted their Saturday, 23rd May, to enhancing the school environment by adding colour and life to the yard walls ahead of the official launch of the new accessibility ramp. ๐ค
Every brushstroke reflected our desire to create a more welcoming and joyful space for the children and staff of the school. โจ Small actions, when carried out with passion and purpose, can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
A heartfelt thank you to all the members who generously gave their time and energy to support this initiative and contribute to a more inclusive and inspiring learning environment. ๐๐

๐โจ President Elect Learning Seminar 2026 โจ๐
On 9th May 2026, President Elect Cheshvi and President Nominee Harsh had the privilege of attending the President Elect Learning Seminar, a valuable leadership development programme designed to prepare incoming club leaders for the new Rotary mandate.
The seminar was an enriching and insightful experience held in the presence of DGE Clement Ah Line, DGN Valerie, and PDG Jean-Jacques Titon, who shared their knowledge, expertise, and vision for impactful leadership.
Throughout the day, participants explored key topics including strategic planning aligned with the four avenues of Rotaract, setting SMART objectives for projects and activities, understanding and addressing member disengagement, measuring and creating meaningful impact, and effectively managing and resolving conflicts within clubs.
๐ค Interactive group activities, practical case studies, and engaging discussions encouraged participants to reflect on their leadership approach and develop actionable strategies for the year ahead. At the end of each session, attendees worked on a 30-day action plan to help kickstart the new mandate with clear goals and purpose.
๐ก The seminar provided valuable tools, fresh perspectives, and inspiration that will undoubtedly contribute to the continued growth and success of our club.
๐ We extend our sincere appreciation to the facilitators and district leaders for delivering such a meaningful and empowering learning experience.

Rotary District 9220 Conference & Assembly : A Reflection
As President of the Rotaract Club of Montebello, attending the Rotary District 9220 Conference & Assembly was truly a humbling experience. Being in the same room as so many inspiring Rotarians from across the district served as a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.
I was privileged to attend the membership session led by District Interact Chair Leena DO Pierre Hoolodor and DGN Valerie โ an impactful and insightful discussion that left me with fresh perspectives and renewed energy to grow our club.
To the fellow Rotaractors present โ thank you for the beautiful memories we shared. Your passion and commitment never fail to inspire.

Testimony โ Pushali, Rotaractor of Montebello ๐
Today, I had the opportunity to participate in the โMokaโ Pav Sov Enn Laviโ session, organised in collaboration with St John Ambulance Mauritius. It was a truly enriching experience where we learned essential first aid techniques in a fun, interactive, and practical way ๐ฉน
We took part in hands-on activities that helped us understand CPR โค๏ธโ๐ฉน and how to respond when someone is choking . The session was very insightful and eye-opening, as I realised that some actions I previously thought were helpful could actually be harmful in an emergency situation. I now feel more confident and better prepared to assist someone if the need arises ๐จ
I would like to sincerely thank the organisers for this wonderful initiative, as well as the President Aneesh for the opportunity of being part of this meaningful session that highlights the importance of first aid in our everyday lives โจ
