A few months ago, a friend of mine kept calling me late at night 🥱— not for emergencies, just to vent about relationship drama. I’d pick up every single time, even when I was tired, because I didn’t want to seem like I didn’t care.

But chile… every call left me drained. 😩

One night I caught myself watching the clock ⏰ waiting for her usual call. I mean had the bubble guts and everything. I knew I didn’t want to talk, but I felt like I had to… because she “needed” me.

And that’s when it hit me — I was betraying my own peace just to help her find hers. 💔

PAUSE… Ladies, how many times have we done that? Sacrificed what we need for what others need? 🤔

So the next night, she called again. This time, I set a boundary. I didn’t answer — I texted her instead:

“Hey sis, I love you, but I’m usually winding down around this time. Let’s catch up earlier when I have more energy.”

And you know what she said?

“OK, sis.”

That’s it. No drama. No guilt trip. No attitude.

I said all of that to say, maybe it’s not always them stealing our peace… sometimes it’s us giving it away. 😫😩😩
