If it is your first job, it's highly likely that you will have to start as a Junior Deckhand.

Here is all you need to know 🤔

What are your responsibilities?

👉 The exterior of the yacht

👉Assisting the mate and senior deck crew in general maintenance like painting, mopping, wash down etc.

👉 Moving heavy objects around

👉 Using various ropes, knots and radio and navigational equipment

👉 Assisting during emergencies and effectively using safety equipment

What is the essential Deckhand Training?

⚓️ STCW Basic Training

⚓️ ENG1 Medical exam

⚓️ RYA Power Boat Level 2 or IYT Rib Master

⚓️ Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (PDSD)

⚓️ Personal Watercraft Operator / Certificate

INTERNAL AUDIT UNDERWAY!

It is our view that managing Safety & Compliance is done on board of a yacht in a practical manner. Our experienced auditors will come on board for two (one day) visits per year.

Last week, our Fleet Compliance Manager Zoe Bolt-Falconer and Technical Manager Miquel S. were on board the 50m superyacht built by Heesen Yachts in Port to conduct an internal audit and technical inspection.

What is special about our ISM procedures?

👉 They allow us to work with the captain

👉 They only implement the procedures which are relevant to the yacht

👉 They ensure complete guest and crew safety whilst our skilled DPAs are on call 24/7 for any maritime emergency

👉 Our ISM system helps keep track of all crew certificates and documents

Nothing is more annoying than completing a checklist that makes no sense. The JMS system allows to implement the crew checklist. We also provide example checklists which the crew then can adapt.

ANOTHER ACHIEVEMENT TO BE PROUD OF!

On the 7th of April, the CEO of Cala del Forte Gian Battista Borea d'Olmo, alongside the Mayor of Ventimiglia Mr. Gaetano Sculino, celebrated the inauguration of a cutting-edge vertical lift which now offers a direct, fast and free of charge pedestrian connection between the Cala del Forte marina and the historic town centre of Ventimiglia Alta.

👉 It is now possible to reach the charming town centre in just 40 seconds!
 
👉 The vertical lift, together with the 582 parking spaces at Cala del Forte are open to the public.

👉 The Cala del Forte parking area offer two Enel X fast charging points for electric vehicles, both located within the ground-level carpark.
 
👉 Yacht owners and crew can already benefit from a direct transfer service to and from Monaco by sea thanks to the high-speed power catamaran Monaco One, which connects the two destinations in under 15 minutes.

Olga is a Career counselor who has worked on board yachts for many years.

👉 She started the page in 2022

👉 Olga has worked for over 7 years as a onboard private and charter from 18m to 146m. Her mission is now to help the community thrive!

👉 Olga also had plenty of experience in hospitality having completed over 9 international hospitality schools where she learnt from the best.

What an amazing day it was at the Monaco Yacht Club attending the Yacht Chef Competition.

The chefs all successfully created amazing plates under so little time with so much passion. Incredible to see how one can cook such delicacies under so much pressure.

We are pleased to introduce you to Lisa Steele who has just joined JMS Careers as a Recruitment Consultant. Lisa grew up on the North Shore of Auckland, New Zealand where she spent her youth exploring the nature and oceans NZ has to offer. She then graduated university with a Bachelor in Business.

A determined and adventurous lady who worked for a leading magazine distributor in New Zealand. A few years later, Lisa dediced to explore the world and went to enjoy the winter working in the Canadian Rocky Mountains as a lift attendant on a ski hill. She then moved to London working as a marketing executive for a publishing company for 3 years, while travelling throughout Europe whenever she could get the chance.

A travel lover which led her to the yachting industry where she completed her certificate in Superyacht Operations Diploma. Lisa had a successful career on board private and charter yachts ranging from 43m to 85m working her way up to chief stewardess, a position that she loved, she has now made her transition to land and is excited to use her experience to continue working in the industry as a Recruitment Consultant.

A special thank to her mentor Lisa Brownlee on Sunrays who was fantastic mentor.
