Exploring Lithuania - Vištytis Holy Wellspring
There are still numerous stunning places in Lithuania that vaguely any of foreign tourists have seen.
Holy Wellspring on the shore (almost) of the Lake Vištytis is surrounded by another Hill of Crosses. See some views of this unknown sacred site and consider to visit it when you are crossing Lithuanian - Polish border. It's only 40 minutes drive on Lithuanian side and slightly less on Polish side. Just Polish roads in this area are so narrow and curved that it could be a problem for large tourist bus but also joy and discovery for private car.
Come and discover this spot!

Kuldiga Old Town is on UNESCO World Heritage List!
Latvia's town Kuldiga absolutely deserved this recognition. A town with rich history preserved urban structure and spirit of older times. When you walk through Kuldiga you discover yourself in ancient settings enjoying log and brick buildings unexpected street curves and parks and Venta river with one of the widest waterfalls in Europe. Come and discover this unique town still not known for wider public.
Here are some pictures from our latest trip to Kuldiga

Here’s our client’s impression
Our impressions from Hiiumaa - second largest Estonian island
We made almost 200 kilometers driving all around Hiiumaa. Not so big distance but it was not enough one day to visit all the sites along the route. The main highlight of Hiiumaa - Kopu lighthouse built in 16th century and still operating. After climbing long steep stairs you will see majestic view of pine forest covered island with some incluses of the sights of human presence. All in all Hiiumaa is a discovery for lighthouse lovers. Apart from the main attraction we visited Ristna and Tahkuna lighthouses. Tahkuna is located on the North East edge of Hiiumaa and there Riga Gulf meet Finnish gulf and Baltic sea. Plus there is impressive memorial to the children that died at the ferry MS Estonia sinking in 1994.
At the capital of Hiiumaa - Kardla town - we enjoyed local architecture of private and public houses, fisherman sculpture with the crow reminded us of similar tradition in some arts of Lithuania when local people were catching and eating crows.
2 kind of weird attractions - Hill of crosses and Wooden Eiffel tower and attraction park. Estonian Hill of Crosses has nothing to do with Lithuanian site and it reminds more like pagan installation instead of Christian landmark. You have to see it yourself to mane your own opinion. We went to see wooden Eiffel Tower replica and we found ourselves in creepy attraction park. Maybe somebody would enjoy the experience.
For hikers there are nice nature trails on the island. We walked very picturesque Orjaku strip with juniper and varied bushes fields.
On the departure you will have time waiting for the boat and you can enjoy Ranna Ella and The old man and the goat sculptures

Visiting Estonian Women Island - Kihnu
3 by 6 kilometers island situated South East of Saaremaa island and takes a bit more than an hour to get there on a ferry from Munalaiu port. Kihnu is famous for their women. They say that in older days when all men went fishing all land works were in the hands of Kihnu women. They could do everything including digging a grave hole for themselves.
If you are lucky you can see women in folk dress driving ancient motorcycles and showing the island for tourists. We were not so lucky. We were told at the museum that you can enjoy these sights on weekends or ordering sightseeing tour in advance.
Kihnu island is great to explore on a bike that you can rent right at the port. The main attractions are Kihnu lighthouse, local museum, Orthodox church and beautiful Nordic nature with juniper fields, and rocky shore.
The island with some 600 inhabitants has close to the cafeterias (the call it kohvik) offering local food but probably not so many fish dishes as one might expect. We didn't find menu in English but waitresses easily translated it from Estonian.
Is you are looking for a relaxed day on a bike exploring new sights - Kihnu is great for you.
Lithuanian Tours at Destinations Exchange Europe by ETOA
Some impressions from the Pink Soup Fest that was held on June 10th in Vilnius.
The crazy event was dedicated to honor probably the most healthy dish of Lithuanian cuisine - Šaltibarščiai (world known as Lithuanian Pink Soup). You could taste and learn everything about Šaltibaršiai, you could sledge Pink Soup path for fun of you and surrounding people. Nice and educational event for young people enjoying summer time in Vilnius.
Enjoy some romantic views of the sunset in Liepaja, Latvia. Maybe Baltic sea seems too cold for swimming but you can have nice walks along the long beach, bike ride etc
Tired of overcrowded world renown destinations. It's time to discover Baltic countries! And we would like to highlight this time Kuldiga - one of the gems of Latvia.
Kuldiga was mentioned for the first time in 1242. The town was Capital of the Duchy of Courland in 16th-17th centuries.
The town is famous for the second widest waterfalls in Europe. Kuldiga's Rumba (waterfall) is just 2 meter high but 240 meters wide with picturesque banks of the River Venta.
Here were built ships on which Courland sailors established colonies in Tobago (1637) and St Andrews Island on the River Gambia (1651). When looking at the River Venta nobody can believe that this shallow river could be a house of the shipyard producing oceanic ships.
There are much more history facts about this town - come and learn.
Today Kuldiga is a large collection of architectural heritage and nature beauty. Exploring curved cobblestone streets with wooden, brick and even fachwerk houses you will feel like getting back to 18th or 19th century. For your pleasure - delicious Latvian pastries, varied food restaurants will give you enough strength to spend full day in this historical and lively town.
See some of our memories from visiting Kuldiga when lilac blossoms.
