On this day in 1953, Kgosi Kgari Sechele of Botswana (then Bechuanaland Protectorate) arrived at Waterloo Station in London alongside Nkosi Sobhuza of Eswatini and Morena Moshoeshoe of Lesotho.
They were invited to represent their territories at the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
That journey was more than ceremony.
It was early proof of what we now call regional integration.
Before independence, three Southern African leaders moved together connected by rail, diplomacy and shared purpose.
The same RAIL and ROAD corridors that carried them still matter today.
As a people to people - connectivity has always been how we show up in the world , and how we trade, travel and speak with one voice.
1953 showed us that integration isnβt new.
