FROM WALES TO LESOTHO: A JOURNEY OF LEARNING, SHARING & CONNECTION

Today, Trans Vanguard (TV) bids farewell to Miss Vanessa Fada, who has completed her time with us as part of a learning and knowledge-exchange placement from a charity organisation in the United Kingdom.

During her time with TV, Vanessa shared her knowledge, skills and experience with our team, while also learning from our work and the local context in which we operate.

Her journey included contributing to organisational activities and partner engagements, facilitating a staff training session on digital and workplace tools, and supporting our Communications work whenever called upon. Her willingness to help capture moments and activities for our communications was especially appreciated.

Beyond her work with TV, Vanessa also embraced the opportunity to experience Lesotho—exploring the history and culture of Thaba - Bosiu Cultural Village and the breathtaking mountain landscape of Afriski in Mokhotlong.

Her time with us has been one of shared learning, contribution, cultural exchange and meaningful connections.

As she begins her journey back to Wales, we thank Miss Fada for the knowledge she shared, the support she offered and the memories she leaves behind.

Rea leboha, Vanessa. We wish you a safe journey home and every success in the journey ahead. You will always be part of the Trans Vanguard story.

International Day of Sign Languages

Communication is a fundamental part of inclusion.

On this International Day,of Sign Languages, 23 september 2026 , Trans Vanguard recognises the importance of creating communities where people who are deaf or hard of hearing can communicate, participate and access information and services without barriers.

Promoting inclusion is part of advancing Human Rights, Advocacy and equal participation for all.

STRENGTHENING DISASTER RESILIENCE THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS AND ACTION

African Risk Capacity (ARC) Risk Transfer Parameters Workshop

Trans Vanguard (TV) participated in the ARC Risk Transfer Parameters Workshop, hosted by the Disaster Management Authority (DMA) with support from the World Food Programme (WFP).

As a member of the Technical Working Group (TWG), representing the Lesotho Council of NGOs (LCN), TV contributed to discussions aimed at strengthening Lesotho’s capacity to anticipate, prepare for, finance and respond to disaster risks.

The workshop covered seasonal climate outlooks, anticipatory action, disaster risk financing, parametric insurance, risk transfer, crop and rangeland risk profiles, risk layering, and options for the 2026/27 insurance season.

For TV, this engagement reflects our commitment to strengthening community resilience and advancing inclusive and sustainable development. It also reinforces our cross-cutting approach to Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), while promoting collaboration, innovation and evidence-based action across our areas of work.

By bringing civil society and community perspectives into national disaster risk financing and preparedness discussions, we contribute to efforts towards resilient, empowered and inclusive communities.

Together, we turn knowledge into action, partnerships into impact, and risks into opportunities for resilience.

Understanding Anger: A Conversation on Emotional Well-being

Anger is a normal human emotion, but understanding how we experience and express it is an important part of emotional well-being.

In a recent BSM podcast conversation, our colleague, Mme Sebolelo 'Makhotso Kholoanyane, a Counsellor and TransVanguard’s Programmes and Planning Manager, explored anger, its causes, the difference between anger and aggression, and healthy versus unhealthy ways of expressing it.

She highlighted the importance of recognising anger-related difficulties and seeking professional support when needed, rather than waiting until challenges become more difficult to manage.

Through its counselling services, TransVanguard recognises the importance of emotional well-being and access to appropriate support.
