On the 27th September 2022, the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Lesotho held its 97th meeting. During the meeting, the MPC considered global, regional,
and domestic economic developments as well as financial markets developments.

Having considered the Net International Reserve (NIR) developments and outlook, regional inflation and interest rate outlook, domestic economic conditions and the global
economic outlook, the MPC decided to:

1. Revise upwards the current NIR target floor of US$720 million to US$730 million. At this level, the NIR target will be sufficient to maintain the one-to-one exchange rate peg between loti and the South African rand.

2. Increase the CBL Rate from 5.50 per cent per annum to 6.25 per cent per annum. This will ensure that the domestic cost of funds is aligned with the money market
rates in the region.

The European Commission & EU 🇪🇺 countries pledged almost €4.37 BILLION to The Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis & malaria.

A record contribution to:

👉 save 20 million lives
👉 avert 450 million infections
👉 cut HIV, TB & malaria death rate by 64%

The Sehlabathebe National Park (SNP) (6,500ha) was at first declared a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1970 and only in 2001 gazetted as a National Park. SNP attained the World Heritage status as an extension of uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site in June 2013 through Decision 37 COM 8B.18, and the two Parks attaining the name Maloti Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site. This is a mixed site and its highest areas support unique montane and sub-alpine ecosystems with unique habitats and high level of endemism. It also has one of the largest concentrations of rock art sites south of the Sahara.
