Water scarcity in Africa is a prominent situation, and is only getting worse. Africa’s population continues to grow and climate change continues to rob the continent of this resource, it is predicted that by 2025, close to 230 million Africans will be facing water scarcity, and up to 460 million will be living in water-stressed areas.

With these concerning statistics in mind, we continue to answer the United Nations call for SDG 6. We have built boreholes and rainwater harvesting systems and water tanks for 3 of 5 schools in Maseru, Lesotho as part of our 5 hub Schools project with Action Ireland Trust .

We have also built a water tank and resevouir tank to ensure continued water access for Phelisanong Children Centre ; a Children’s home in Leribe, Lesotho thanks to Sentebale

Working towards an Africa with universal access to portable water 💧.

Phelisanong Children Centre; a home 🏠 for over 200 children based in Leribe, Lesotho 🇱🇸 operated for years cooking and preparing food in in an outdoor space, ensuring all sorts of harsh changing weather conditions.

To address this issue and many more surrounding the need for hygiene and food security, we are building a new kitchen for the centre 🥳😅. Check out this short video to see how it’s progressing thus far.
Thank you Sentebale for making this project possible 🧡

Let’s go to Phelisanong Children Centre; Come with us, see the progress and comment 👍👍👍 if you enjoyed this little trip!!!
Sentebale

Imagine preparing 200 meals 3 times a day, EVERYDAY in an outside kitchen especially now in winter when temperatures have dropped so low in Lesotho. With 56.6% of the population still cooking with wood in outdoor settings, this is a real situation at Phelisanong Children Centre too. Where thanks to Sentebale we are constructing a modern indoor kitchen. Scroll down to see where we’re headed 😅.

This is our platform to share to the world what our beloved funders do for us and what we also do for ourselves as Phelisanong. Phelisanong is a community-based organization in Lesotho, Southern Africa founded by a group of disabled and HIV/AIDS positive villagers in 2001.

The Centre provides a home, family, and community for people living with various mental and physical disabilities, HIV/AIDS, and other chronic illnesses, and orphans. Visit project pages to find out more about how Phelisanong is transforming lives in Africa!
