House of Representatives Endorses Capacity Building Workshop for Lawmakers.

The House of Representatives has approved participation in a capacity-building workshop organized by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and performance of lawmakers.

According to a press release issued by the House Press Bureau on June 16, 2026, the decision followed a communication addressed to Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon by Dr. Stefanie Brinkel, Resident Representative of KAS and Director for Political Dialogue in West Africa.

In her communication, Dr. Brinkel proposed a three-day interactive and practice-oriented training program for members of the House of Representatives. The workshop is scheduled to take place from June 25 to June 27, 2026.

She noted that the initiative is designed to strengthen parliamentary performance by equipping participants with practical tools, valuable insights, and applied knowledge necessary for effective legislative work. The program also seeks to enhance both individual competencies and the overall institutional capacity of the Legislature.

Dr. Brinkel further requested the support of the Speaker in encouraging lawmakers to actively participate in the training.

Following deliberations, Plenary endorsed the proposal and agreed to participate in the workshop. Subsequently, Speaker Koon urged members of the House of Representatives to attend the training in large numbers, emphasizing the importance of continuous professional development in improving legislative effectiveness and public service delivery.

The workshop is expected to provide lawmakers with additional skills, knowledge, and practical experience to better carry out their parliamentary responsibilities.

Ebola Alert ๐Ÿšจ: Over 830 Ebola Cases, 196 Dead in Congo as Africa CDC Warns of Worst Outbreak Ever

The Head of Africa CDC warned Tuesday that the Ebola outbreak in Congo could become the worst in history. He said it will cost billions of dollars to stop later if problems with the response are not fixed now.

More than 830 people in Congo have caught the rare Bundibugyo type of Ebola. There is no proven medicine or vaccine for this type. So far, 196 people have died.

The disease spreads through body fluids, even after a person dies. It is now spreading fast in three provinces in the Democratic Republic of Congo, government data shows.

Africa CDC Director-General Jean Kaseya spoke to African leaders and donors in a video meeting in Burundi. He said: โ€œIf we donโ€™t stop this outbreak very soon, it will be worse than what we had in West Africa and eastern DRC.
