BEWARE: A New Scam Targeting Liberians—Don’t Fall for It!
In recent months, a disturbing scam has been making the rounds within the Liberian community, and it’s time we speak out and protect one another. This blog is a public service announcement to raise awareness and prevent more innocent people from falling victim to fraudulent schemes carried out by those we might least expect—our own sisters.
Reports have surfaced about two individuals, Jessica Carter and Amanda Carter, who claim to be living in Canada. However, multiple sources confirm that they are, in fact, residing in Ghana, operating a scam under the false pretense of helping people travel abroad—particularly to Canada.
These individuals reportedly contact unsuspecting victims via social media or messaging apps, telling them about a “program” allegedly backed by the Mastercard Foundation. They promise opportunities to travel, work, or study abroad, but the entire operation is fraudulent.
The program they claim is affiliated with the Mastercard Foundation is actually a front for the notorious scam organization known as Q-Net. Q-Net has been exposed in various countries for operating deceptive get-rich-quick schemes disguised as employment or migration assistance programs.
The scam typically follows this pattern:
• You receive a message from someone claiming to be in Canada.
• They tell you about a great opportunity to travel to Canada or another country.
• You’re asked to come to Ghana so they can “process your documents.”
• You’re pressured to pay money for visa processing, job placements, or travel arrangements.
None of it is real.
This scam isn’t just about losing money—it destroys dreams, causes emotional distress, and ruins trust among communities. It’s especially painful to see such deception coming from fellow Liberians.
These scammers prey on our hopes for a better life abroad. They use our shared language, culture, and background to gain trust—and that’s what makes this scam so cruel.
If 500 can do any good for you drop ur haza dis morning

Today, Liberia celebrates the 80th birthday of its President, Joseph Nyumah Boakai, born on November 30, 1944, in Worsonga, Lofa County. President Boakai’s life is a testament to resilience and dedication. Born to humble beginnings, he overcame significant challenges, walking hundreds of miles in pursuit of education and eventually graduating from the University of Liberia with a degree in business administration.
Before becoming Liberia’s 26th president in January 2024, Boakai served as Vice President under Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for 12 years and held other notable positions, such as Minister of Agriculture and Managing Director of the Liberia Produce Marketing Corporation. Known for his integrity and humanitarian work, he has championed initiatives in education, agriculture, and infrastructure development throughout his career .
On his birthday, Liberians reflect on his vision for unity and sustainable development under the slogan “Think Liberia, Love Liberia, Build Liberia.” Let us celebrate a leader whose life has been dedicated to improving the lives of others and building a brighter future for his nation.
