The Township of Paynesville was established in 1872. Its inhabitants didn't have a place to host events and to converge for bigger meetings. The citizens of Paynesville through its Commissioner J.C.N Haword constructed this Town Hall and dedicated it to President William R. Tolbert Jr. on December 15, 1972.

National Fast and Prayer Day was observed following a bill enacted by the Legislature of Liberia in 1883, declaring the second Friday in April as “National Fast and Prayer Day” for the safety and welfare of the nation and its people with penitent reverence to God. The day is usually observed as a day of supplication, meditation, fasting, and prayer. Citizens and foreign residents are called upon to stop from their daily occupations and avocations to recognize and further God’s love and guidance.

The President of Liberia proclaims this national holiday each year. Fast and Prayer Day was a Christian holiday at first. But today, the holiday is for all residents to join, regardless of their religious creeds. The fast starts at 8 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m.

Duala market is one of the biggest marketplaces in Monrovia.
This market is used by the local Liberian marketing association.
Amongst other marketplaces, this market was constructed January of 2022 by the Weah led government.
Prior to this structure, there was an official market building in this very spot.

The town lies on the Cape Mount peninsula, a spit of land separating the brackish lagoon Lake Piso from the Atlantic Ocean,50 mi (80 km) north-west of Monrovia. It serves as the capital of Grand Cape Mount County and is the home of the city corporation.

The houses seen in the picture were built in the 18 hundreds when the settlers returned to Liberia.

The inhabitants of this beautiful city depend squarely on fishing as it is the way of life there. They would stay hours on the waters just fishing and when they are successful in catching fish, they package them for the Liberian market by drying them to be sold.

The Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Stadium C.K.A SKD is a multi-purpose stadium which is part of the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville, Liberia, a suburb of the country's capital, Monrovia. Built in 1986, it is used mostly for football matches and has an athletics track, though it has also been used for a reggae concert, political rallies, Inauguration, "Liberia for Jesus Crusade", Bicentennial Celebration, IDP refuge, and Ebola treatment. The SKD is the largest stadium in Liberia. Its spectator capacity is 22,000.
