For Immediate Release

Monrovia, March 26, 2022: The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry Justice, has requested the immediate conduct of an autopsy on the bodies of Princess Cooper and Melvin Togba in order to establish what led to their deaths.

Ms. Cooper was discovered dead on March 24, 2022 at the ELWA intersection in Paynesvile, in a compound believed to be owned by the Fawaz Building Materials Store; while Mr. Togba was found dead in his bedroom in Jallah Town the same day.

Although an initial report by the police coroner and forensic team is available, the conduct of an autopsy will help establish the actual cause of deaths.

NICORA Lifts Media Blackout on Nimba County Sports Steering Committee.
By Figo Mansaray Sr+231881734014
December 12, 2021.

The Nimba Community Radio Association (NICORA) has with immediate effect lifted media blackout imposed on the Nimba County Sports Steering Committee for the 2021-2022 National County Sports Meet.

The decision was reached Sunday, 12th December, 2021 following an appealed from a group of elders residing in Sanniquellie under the banner "Professional Elders of Sanniquellie".

Speaking at a press conference, the President of the Nimba Community Radio Association, Kennedy Domah said NICORA is to make sure that best practices in the administration of public offices across Nimba are observed.

Mr. Domah said the act of the Nimba County Sports Steering Committee to retain Mouctarr Fofana as head coach of the County Soccer Team is completely not in place, noting that Mouctarr disgraced the County during the 2019-2020 National County Sports Meet when he ordered the soccer team players to walked out of the playing pitch during the final against Grand Kru County.

"It is sad to say that in our Liberian society, “exclusivity is only a crime when one does not enjoy it spoils”, Mr. Domah added.

The NICORA President noted that the Sports Steering Committee has failed to implement the recommendation of the vetting committee in order to preferred class "A" or "B" licenses coach instead of class "C" license coach.

It can be recalled that in 2019-2020 National County Sports Meet Mouctarr Fofana ordered the soccer team players of Nimba County to walked out of the football field during the grand final against Grand Kru County, his action which led to the Minister of Youths and Sports, Zogar Wilson, describing Nimbaians as hooligans.

"Though our journey was challenging, we have come to a conclusive conclusion to give a listening ear to our elders and fathers of Nimba County who have elected to respond and give attention to our advocacy", Mr. Domah indicated.

At the same time, the Nimba Community Radio Association (NICORA) President has condemned the action of the Nimba County Inspector, B. Mack Gblinwon on the social media by denigrating the leadership of NICORA, something he described as an ineffectiveness on his part.

NICORA President sounded a caveat to people who have the perception that they can use and dump the media should wiped it out, adding the media consist of serious-minded professionals.

He also said the interest of the people cannot be compromised the interest of our people, as a result they will always ensure that the right things are done under their watchful eyes.

Breaking News:

President George Manneh Weah has told a Church congregation outside Monrovia that there's no devil that can withstand a Government's decision on issue of importance.

The Liberian Leader was speaking on a recent demonstration staged by some traditional members of the Lofa County Traditional Chapter who gathered in their numbers to protest over the delay in certificating one of their sons that won the December 8, 2020 Special Senatoral Elections in the county, but is yet to take his seat at the National Legislature and represent his people; something the Traditional Protesters say has taken forever, thus making Lofa County under-represented in the House of Parliament.

According to President Weah, the act of staging such protest was mis-calculated and mis-guarded.

Weah added that for too long citizens have taken the laws for granted and there should be a need for more decent approach to seeking National Government attention on pressing issues.

Meanwhile, Amb. George Weah believes that everyone must be respected of his/her tradition and practice responsibly, something Mr. Weah understands that God is the true ultimate and there's no devil that can stand in front of the Almighty.

R. Kelly found guilty, to spend the rest of his life in jail

The jury reached a verdict after two days of deliberation.
American singer R. Kelly has been found guilty of s*xually abusing women, boys and girls for decades.

The disgraced music star was convicted on Monday, September 27, 2021, on all nine counts including racketeering and violations of the Mann Act, which prohibits the transport of “any woman or girl” across state lines for any “immoral purpose.”

He will be spending the rest of his life in prison.

The jury of seven men and five women deliberated for about nine hours across two days before reaching their unanimous verdict.

“This case is not about a celebrity who likes to party a lot. This case is about a predator,” Assistant US Attorney Maria Cruz Melendez said at the beginning of the case.

One of his victims was R&B singer Aaliyah, who Kelly illegally wed in a Chicago hotel room in 1994, when she was 15 years old.

For the illicit nuptials to move forward, Kelly relied on his entourage, prosecutors showed.

Monday's verdict in federal court in Brooklyn comes just over 2 years after Kelly was arrested in Chicago for multiple federal s*x crimes in 2 different states.

Kelly's legal team called a handful of ex-Kelly employees and associates to take the stand in an effort to discredit allegations the singer s*xually abused women, girls and boys.

Pres.Weah Discloses Post COVID-19 Economic Recovery Plan At UN General Assembly

By:Yassah J Wright/ Lime TV Contributor

The President of the Republic, Dr. George Manneh Weah, says Liberia’s strides against the deadly COVID-19 and poverty are strong and progressive despite mounting challenges facing his Government.

The President said the Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PADP) which specifically targets longstanding socioeconomic deficits of the country has also developed a Post-COVID-19 Economic Recovery Plan intended to reduce the debilitating impact of the pandemic.

“Under the Economic Recovery Plan, the Liberian economy is already beginning to show signs of resurgence, and in spite of the negative impact of the coronavirus, projections for Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth is now positive, and is expected to reach four percent (4%) in the coming year,” the Liberian Chief Executive said Thursday, September 23, 2021, in a statement to the ongoing 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Dr. Weah asserted that through the implementation of difficult macroeconomic reforms, his Government has been able to obtain a substantial increase in domestic revenue generation for the first time in more than a decade, “and we are committed to broader economic and investment climate reforms”.

“In the agriculture sector for example, my Government is endeavoring to vigorously launch agricultural promotion projects, which will increase agricultural production through new entrepreneurship opportunities, innovations, and safe farming techniques.”

Conscious of the importance and impact of infrastructure on social and economic development, as enshrined in the PAPD, the Liberian Leader told the United Nations General Assembly that his Government has identified investment in roads; energy and ports as key priority areas.

“I am pleased and honored to address this Seventy-sixth (76th) Session of the United Nations General Assembly on behalf of the Government and People of Liberia,” he added. “I want to use this occasion to congratulate His Excellency Mr. Abdulla Shahid on his election as President of the Seventy-sixth Session of the United Nations General Assembly; and avail to him Liberia’s fullest support in the fulfillment of his duties and responsibilities.”

President Weah acknowledged a horde of negative socio-economic impacts and health consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic which, according to him, “remind us of the measure of work that is required at the global and national level to combat this pestilence.”

Taking cue from the theme for this 76th Session, which is “Building resilience through hope to recover from COVID-19, rebuild sustainably, respond to the needs of the planet, respect the rights of people, and revitalize the United Nations,” Dr. Weah opined that the theme is clarion call to all peoples of all nations, that as they try to re-build their COVID-impeded economies.”

He was quick to draw attention to what must be done by nations in a sustainable manner that will take due account of the environment, have regard for fundamental human rights which are enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations.

He paid heartfelt tribute to the courageous and dedicated public health workers around the world for their continued selfless service in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Liberian Leader recalled that six years ago, the United Nations General Assembly took a giant step forward to promote the economic and social advancement of all peoples, and to better their standards of living, when it adopted the landmark 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

“This was meant to be a global plan of action; for people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnership; with the goal of eradicating poverty in all its forms and dimensions,” President Weah asserted, adding that “since our transition to the Decade of Action for the implementation of the new Sustainable Development Goals, the world has been engulfed by a global pandemic which has posed enormous strains on our capacity to implement the 2030 Agenda, and has even raised the possibility of reversing development gains.”
