😭😭Mobile Money Merchant Charged Over Mistaken US$250,000 Transfer

The Liberia National Police has charged a Paynesville-based mobile money merchant, Leroy Cooper, for allegedly spending part of US$250,000 that was mistakenly transferred to his account by UBA.

Police say the money was sent in error when a bank teller intended to transfer L$250,000 but mistakenly sent US$250,000. Investigators allege Cooper transferred and withdrew part of the funds instead of reporting the error.

Authorities say about US$45,000 was cashed out before the remaining balance was frozen. Cooper has been charged with Theft of Property and the case has been forwarded to court for prosecution.
