We are excited to announce that the BioHelixNode Summer Bioinformatics Internship 2026 has officially begun! 🧬💻

We started the program with an orientation session, followed by our first live lesson on Introduction to Bioinformatics. During Week 1, participants learned how bioinformatics combines biology, computer science, and data analysis to transform biological data into meaningful scientific knowledge.

This eight-week internship is designed to introduce young Liberian scientists and life sciences students to bioinformatics through beginner-friendly lessons, practical exercises, assignments, mentorship, and a team research project.

For many participants, this is their first structured experience in bioinformatics. Our goal is to build a strong foundation, encourage scientific curiosity, and prepare them for future opportunities in modern biological research.

We are proud of the enthusiasm and commitment shown by our participants during the first week. This is only the beginning!

It was great connecting with young Liberians interested in science, biotechnology, laboratory skills, and bioinformatics. The session focused on introducing participants to biotechnology concepts, wet and dry laboratory skills, and the role of bioinformatics in modern science.
