The Ministry of Education, in partnership with the World Food Program (WFP), has launched the rollout of School Connect Initiative, a digital platform designed to strengthen transparency, coordination, and data-driven management within Liberia’s School Feeding Program.
Launched at SIMS Community Elementary Jr./Sr. High School in Montserrado County, the initiative supports improved monitoring of enrollment, attendance, food supply, and consumption patterns across participating schools.
Speaking at the launch, Minister of Education Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah emphasized that the value of the platform lies not only in collecting data, but in how quickly that information leads to action and better decision-making within the system.
Following an initial pilot in 75 schools, the next phase will expand to 320 schools across Montserrado, Margibi, B**g, Nimba, and Maryland Counties.
The Government of Liberia also reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the national school feeding program, increasing national funding from US$1 million to US$1.8 million this year to support improved educational outcomes and student wellbeing nationwide.

Today is May 14
National Unification Day in Liberia
Here are things you need to know about this day:
Liberia’s National Unification Day was created because, for many years, the country was divided. After Liberia was founded, the Americo-Liberians — freed Black settlers from America — controlled much of the government and national leadership, while many indigenous Liberians had limited access to education, political power, and other opportunities.
When William V. S. Tubman became president in 1944, he wanted to help unite the country. Through his Unification and Integration Policy, he worked to bring all Liberians together by expanding education, improving roads, and giving more people the chance to participate in national life.
Because of these efforts, May 14 was declared National Unification Day in 1960 — a day to remind Liberians that despite our different tribes, backgrounds, and beliefs, we are one nation and one people.
