🚨 PRESS STATEMENT 🚨

The Ministry of Education - Liberia has fined the Firestone Liberia School System LRD 500,000 for violating national graduation regulations by including ineligible students in its ceremony.

Partnerships with schools remain central to delivering quality education, but a partnership does not mean exemption from the rules. Every institution, public or private, must comply with MoE standards that protect fairness, credibility, and the future of our children.

This action is part of the Ministry’s broader reform agenda to strengthen accountability and raise learning outcomes. We call on parents, school administrators, County and District Education Officers, and the public to join us in safeguarding standards. Report any suspected violations immediately through your local education office or the national hotline (1416).

Together, let us uphold standards that prepare students for real success, not ceremonial shortcuts.

President Boakai Meets with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Landau to Deepen Economic and Strategic Cooperation

July 10, 2025

Washington, D.C., United States – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., yesterday held a high-level meeting with United States Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau in Washington, D.C., as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and expand economic cooperation between Liberia and the United States.

This engagement follows President Boakai’s successful participation in the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit held at the White House, where he joined four other African Heads of State for strategic discussions with President Donald J. Trump. The summit reaffirmed Liberia’s role as a valued partner to the United States and set the stage for follow-up bilateral meetings focused on investment, development, and security cooperation.

During the meeting, President Boakai and Deputy Secretary Landau discussed practical avenues to expand U.S.–Liberia partnerships in the mining sector, small business development, and other key areas of private enterprise. Both leaders emphasized the importance of increasing private sector investment as a driver of inclusive growth and job creation in Liberia.

Deputy Secretary Landau commended Liberia’s commitment to economic reform and lauded the recent signing of the Concession and Access Agreement (CAA) with Ivanhoe Liberia Ltd., which ensures multi-user access to Liberia’s vital rail corridor. He recognized the agreement as a pivotal step toward improving infrastructure and facilitating long-term economic growth that benefits both countries.

President Boakai reaffirmed his government’s determination to foster a transparent, investor-friendly climate and underscored Liberia’s potential as a strategic hub for trade and investment in West Africa. He noted that deepening cooperation with the United States remains a top priority of his administration.

The meeting also addressed Liberia’s upcoming term on the United Nations Security Council for 2026–2027. President Boakai and Deputy Secretary Landau pledged to work closely on shared global priorities, including peacekeeping, regional stability, and democratic governance.

President Boakai expressed appreciation for the longstanding friendship between Liberia and the United States and welcomed continued engagement at all levels to unlock new opportunities for mutual benefit.
