Yes, Young Zee aka Hipco Town Chief is from Matadi, a well-known community in Monrovia, Liberia. His upbringing in Matadi played a crucial role in shaping his music and storytelling style. As a pioneer of Hipco, he used his lyrics to reflect the realities of everyday life, gaining widespread recognition for his authentic sound.
Even though he stepped away from the music scene for a while, his legacy remains strong, and his recent collaboration with L’Drez in 2024 suggests he may not be done just yet.
