The design and fit-out of Sri Lanka's first permanent live radio broadcasting studio in Colombo city center shopping mall, Colombo, had to reflect the station’s unique brand and character.

Lite 87.8 live broadcasting studio theme is inspired by few retro elements and color pallet which strongly combine with the brand colors and it's theme. The interior design faced several challenges including the location and motion pattern of the users. Attracting of a small, corner located interior space in a high dense shopping mall were achieved by using the retro color pallet and legendary art pieces in both ceiling and walls. The warm lighting conditions has balanced the theme with it's modern furniture and fit-outs.

The operations team had to be extremely careful when laying out acoustic systems, and high-tech systems used by the station. And as the network regularly welcomes celebrities, senior officials and general public, the studio was designed with these fundamentals in mind.

Roast Paanos uses reclaimed materials from different construction sites in Colombo and uses polished metal objects and ornaments to stage the informal, compact and colorful atmosphere of bustling cities.

The building language & pattern start from exterior and detailed in interior. The interior is designed mainly using reclaimed materials like palette wood, fabric, metal, cardboard and paper. Color Red is used to give a contrast and the polished metal light fittings and ornaments inserted as a modern presentation to the rustic context.

The double nature of materials and textures reflects a double nature of use. The more quiet, dimly lit first floor area with fabric ceiling and wall provides a quiet retreat for an evening beer.
