Project Point Pedro is about a comprehensive research of a feasibility study of a fishery harbor in the Jaffna district, Sri Lanka.
Between 1983 and 2009, Sri Lanka suffered from a civil war, this war resulted in limited development of the country. In contribution to this war, extreme rainfall, tsunami’s and cyclones destroyed large parts of the country. The economy is waiting for recovery and growth. This project will contribute to this growth with a new design of the Fishery harbour in Point Pedro at the Jaffna District. As the Asian Development Bank already believes, renovation of this harbour by EML Consultants can make the change. As a multidisciplinairy group the task is to implement the extreme weather conditions on the design of the new fishery harbour. Our research topics are:
- Is the new concept for the fishery harbour realistic?
- Technical aspects of the harbour, possible berthing place, total design.
- What are the influences of extreme weather conditions?
- In what way will the harbour contribute to economic growth of North Sri Lanka?
