🔴Introduction
Food safety and hygiene had become important issues not only for food products meant for exports to overseas markets, but also for the domestic market as more and more people are getting aware of the safety and hygiene aspects of food products. With the growing concern on safety of food, it is important that industry employ quality assurance staff who are well knowledgeable and competent in quality assurance in food processing activities.
Diploma in Food Quality Management is designed and offered by SLSI to cater the current demand in the food sector. The Diploma is primarily aiming to provide participants with an in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of Food Hygiene, Quality/ Food Safety Management Systems and to enable them to exercise management controls for the production of safe food.

එල් නිනෝ (El Niño) පිළිබඳ මේ වනවිට ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ වැඩි අවධානයක් යොමුවී ඇති කාලයක, කොරල් පර පද්ධති සහ ඒවායේ නැවත ප්‍රතිසාධන ක්‍රියාවලිය පිළිබඳව පරෙයිවැල්ල කොරල් පරය ආශ්‍රිතව වසර දෙකකට ආසන්න (2023–2025) දීර්ඝ පර්යේෂණයක් ශ්‍රී ලංකා සාගර විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ පර්යේෂණ කණ්ඩායමක් විසින් සිදු කර ඇත. මෙම පර්යේෂණයේ ප්‍රධාන පර්යේෂකයා ලෙස ශ්‍රී ලංකා සාගර විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ කථිකාචාර්ය අනුර උපශාන්ත මහතා කටයුතු කළ අතර, අනෙක් පර්යේෂකයන් ලෙස එම විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයෙන් උපාධි ලබා ඇති ඩිල්ශාන් ගීගනගේ මහතා, චතුස්ක නාදේනිය මහතා ,දියසෙන් ජයසුන්දර මහතා, නදීර නුවන් මහතා සහ අවසන් වසර පර්යේෂණ ශිෂ්‍ය මාලක තරිඳු මහතා එක්ව මෙම පර්යේෂණය සිදු කර ඇත.

සාගර ජෛව විවිධත්වය හා පරිසර පද්ධති සේවාවන් සඳහා අත්‍යවශ්‍ය වන කොරල් පර, එල් නිනෝ (El Niño) වැනි දේශගුණික විෂමතා හේතුවෙන් වැඩි වැඩියෙන් තර්ජනයට ලක්වෙමින් පවතී. පසුගිය දශක කිහිපය තුළ ශ්‍රී ලංකාව ද එල් නිනෝ සිදුවීම්වල බලපෑමට ලක්ව ඇත. මෙම අධ්‍යයනය ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ කොරල් පර පද්ධතියක කොරල් සුදු වීමේ (coral bleaching) බලපෑම් සහ කෙටි කාලීන ප්‍රතිසාධන ගතිකතාව පිළිබඳ පළමු වරට ලේඛනගත කළ ඇගයීම ඉදිරිපත් කරයි.

මෙම අධ්‍යයනයේදී ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ තංගල්ල ප්‍රදේශයේ පිහිටි පරෙයිවැල්ල කොරල් පරයේ (Pareiwella Coral Reef) පසුපස කොරල් කලාපයේ Hard Coral Cover (HCC), Macroalgal Cover (MaC), සහ Other Benthic Cover (OBC) හි වෙනස්වීම්, එල් නිනෝ කාලය තුළ (2023 අගෝස්තු – ඔක්තෝබර්) සහ එල් නිනෝ පසු කාලය තුළ (2025 ජනවාරි – මාර්තු) ඇගයීමට ලක් කරන ලදී.

HCC සඳහා වූ bleaching ඇගයීම් 2023 අගෝස්තු සහ 2025 ජනවාරි මාසවලදී සිදු කරන ලද අතර, කොරල් ජනාවාස සම්පූර්ණයෙන් සුදු වූ (Totally Bleached – TBC), අර්ධ වශයෙන් සුදු වූ (Partially Bleached – PBC), පැහැය මැකී ගිය (Pale-Colored – PCC), මෑතකදී මියගිය (Recently Dead – RDC), මියගිය (Dead – DC), සහ සෞඛ්‍ය සම්පන්න (Healthy – HC) ලෙස වර්ගීකරණය කරන ලදී. දත්ත රැස් කිරීම සඳහා ස්ථිර transects හයක් ඔස්සේ 0.5 × 0.5 m² quadrats නියමිත දුර පරතරයන්හි ස්ථාපනය කරන ලදී.

එල් නිනෝ කාලය තුළ HCC, MaC සහ OBC හි සාමාන්‍ය ප්‍රතිශත ආවරණය ± SD අගයන් පිළිවෙලින් 35.77 ± 1.97%, 47.39 ± 2.80%, සහ 16.84 ± 2.36% විය. එල් නිනෝ පසු කාලයේදී HCC සහ OBC අගයන් 56.61 ± 5.63% සහ 18.23 ± 3.95% දක්වා ඉහළ ගිය අතර, MaC 40.87 ± 4.89% දක්වා අඩු විය.

එල් නිනෝ සමයේ bleaching තත්ත්වය ඉහළ TBC (11.31%) සහ PCC (16.93%) අගයන් පෙන්වූ අතර, සෞඛ්‍ය සම්පන්න කොරල් ජනාවාස ප්‍රතිශතය 42.39% ක් පමණක් විය. එහෙත්, එල් නිනෝ පසු කාලීන ඇගයීම්වලදී සෞඛ්‍ය සම්පන්න කොරල් ජනාවාස 53.26 ± 8.92% දක්වා වැඩි වී තිබුණි. Repeated measures ANOVA විශ්ලේෂණය මගින් කොරල් ජනරාවන් අතර HCC හි සැලකිය යුතු වෙනස්වීම් (p < 0.05) පෙන්වා දුන් අතර, ජනරාව සහ කාලය අතර වැදගත් අන්තර්ක්‍රියා ද නිරීක්ෂණය විය.

HCC හි මාසික වෙනස්වීම් සැලකිය යුතු ලෙස දක්නට ලැබුණේ එල් නිනෝ පසු කාලයේදී පමණි. MaC හි කාලීය හෝ taxa මට්ටමේ සැලකිය යුතු වෙනස්කම් නොපෙන්වූ නමුත්, Caulerpa spp. අඛණ්ඩව ප්‍රමුඛව පැවතුණි. එල් නිනෝ සමයේ HCC හි පහළ යාම නැවත නැවත ඇති වූ bleaching බලපෑම් සමඟ සම්බන්ධ වූ අතර, විශේෂයෙන් ප්‍රමුඛ නොවන ජනරාවන් වැඩි බලපෑමට ලක්විය. එයට ප්‍රතිවිරුද්ධව, එල් නිනෝ සිදුවීමෙන් පසු පරිසර තත්ත්වයන් යහපත් වීමත් සමඟ ප්‍රතිරෝධී ජනරාවන්හි කොටස්මය ප්‍රතිසාධනයක් නිරීක්ෂණය විය.

මෙම සොයාගැනීම් 2023 එල් නිනෝ සිදුවීමට ප්‍රතිචාර වශයෙන් benthic taxa-වල විශේෂිත ප්‍රතිචාර සහ එම සිදුවීමෙන් පසු කොරල් ප්‍රතිසාධන ක්‍රියාවලිය පිළිබඳ වැදගත් අවබෝධයක් ලබා දෙන අතර, කොරල් පර නිරීක්ෂණය සහ කළමනාකරණය සඳහා සෘජු වැදගත්කමක් දරයි।
