A Memorable Student Meet-up with IFAC President Asmâa Resmouki

Earlier today, the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka was honored to host a remarkable event in the CMA auditorium featuring Ms. Asmâa Resmouki, the esteemed President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).

The highlight of the event was Ms. Asmâa Resmouki's insightful address, where she shared her thoughts on IFAC way forward in developing purposeful accounts and the future of the accounting profession. As part of this significant occasion, the CMA Students Journal was launched and recognized the performance of students at the examinations. Additionally, the CMA Learning Management System was unveiled, a cutting-edge tool designed to enhance the learning experience for our future accounting professionals.

During the event, our talented students took the stage, delivering powerful speeches on various topics on the evolving accounting profession.
One of the notable moments of the event was a stimulating discussion between the students and Ms. Resmouki. This engaging dialogue provided a platform for students to articulate their views on the accounting profession and highlighted the pivotal role of the CMA professional program in shaping their prosperous careers.

The event concluded on a melodious note as our students came together to sing a song, entertaining the audience and creating a sense of camaraderie among all attendees.

The Students’ Guild of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants (CMA) of Sri Lanka organized a highly successful International Students Conference on August 19th, 2023. This remarkable event was hosted at the prestigious Auditorium of the Center for Banking Studies (CBS) in Rajagiriya.

The conference was a true celebration of diversity and collaboration, with the participation of 13 outstanding international students hailing from esteemed institutions in India, Nepal, and Bangladesh. It was a privilege to witness these young minds come together to share their insights and perspectives on various topics.

The first technical session, expertly chaired by Mr. Asanga Wimalarathna, a distinguished Council member of CMA Sri Lanka, and co-chaired by Mr. Kosala Dissanayake, the Acting CEO of CMA Sri Lanka, was a highlight of the conference. This session was centered around the theme of "Adoption of Technology in Various Sectors."

The speakers during this session covered a wide array of crucial topics.

Ms. Mahesha Amarsuriya, Director of MasterCard Sri Lanka, delivered a thought-provoking presentation on the "Adoption of Technology in the Banking Sector." Her insights into the evolving landscape of technology within the banking industry were invaluable.

Prof. Roshan Ajward from the University of Sri Jayawardanepura shared his expertise on "Adoption of Technology and AI in Forensic Accounting and Governance." His talk shed light on the transformative impact of technology in ensuring transparent and accountable financial practices.

Prof. Ravi Dissanayake from the University of Kelaniya offered profound insights into "The Impact of Technology and AI on Education." His presentation explored the role of technology in shaping the future of education, a topic of great relevance in today's world.

Mr. Channa Hewage's presentation on "Adoption of Technology in Industry and Commerce" provided a comprehensive understanding of how technology is reshaping businesses and industries, enhancing efficiency and competitiveness.

The session concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, providing attendees with the opportunity to further explore the topics discussed and interact with the esteemed speakers.
