The Anse la Raye Fishers and Consumers Cooperative Society celebrated Fishermen’s Feast with its members after a long time .The celebration commenced with a Games Night earlier in the week with fishers and community members. The main part of the celebration took place yesterday with a church service followed by blessing of boats and then an award ceremony. Eleven long serving fishermen were recognized since fishers were never shown appreciation and recognized in the past for their meaningful contribution to society .Mr Cyprian Lansiquot gave brief remarks on behalf of the Parliamentary Representative Mr Wayne Girard who is out of state on Goverment business.Mr John Victorin and Mr Chris Fred, the Cooperative’s Officer also shared words of appreciation and support to the fishers. We need to thank the fishers for their high level of interest and participation in the activities .Thanks also to all who supported in one way or other and especially to the District Rep for his assistance and Deacon Jeffrey for his special message to the fishermen It was indeed a wonderful celebration.

The renovation of the Roseau bus shelter is another project which was undertaken to provide a more comfortable space for the residents while awaiting buses to go on their daily journey …Bravo team Roseau. We are indeed pleased
Councilor Joyce Glasgow listened to the cries of the residents of Morne Dor and constructed a footpath with railings for easier access to their homes .This project will benefit about 25 residents. We can well imagine the joy brought about especially to the elderly of the area .Well done Joyce. We care about our constituents.🙌🙌🏿
Persons who live around the playing field complain of problems with mosquitoes in the area from the stagnant water in the drain nearby. As a result ,desilting of part of the drain was done following treatment of the water by The Department of Environmental Health .Again ,we have provided some level of comfort to the residents.
The work undertaken at the Bay front facility near the Infant School included :pumping out sewer waste from 2 septic tanks ,sealing tank ,completing drain to the beach, and making a walk way on the side of drain. We are extremely pleased to bring relief to the school and to the volleyballers who use the area on a regular basis.
The Anse la Raye Constituency Council undertook a few projects during the past weeks throughout the constituency .These projects were selected by councilors with the objective of addressing the needs of constituents and bringing a measure of comfort to them.Work was done on two comfort centers in the village of Anse la Raye .The Petit Bough facility was renovated since it was in a deplorable state while attention was given to the sewage system at the Bay front since there has been a continual leakage with an offensive smell to the school nearby and community at large. Here are the BEFORE and AFTER photos .

"The difficulties in my path shall not defeat my ambition". This Anse la Raye School Motto resonates in the journeys of many sons and daughters of the soil. It is only fitting to recognize these living heroes. Sources of inspiration from a community often faced with chronic challenges...often tarnished by undesirable labels. However through resilience and determination we still rise.
On this note we present Yogidaproducer Johann "YogidaProducer" Deterville, affectionately known as "Yogi" in his community and close circles. We celebrate his recent nomination for the highly coveted , 2022 Jack Richardson Producer of the Year Award at the Canadian JUNO Awards.
This adds to an extensive list of accolades in the past couple years that includes nominations and a win in last years JUNO'S, BAFTA Award for his productions on Spider-man: Miles Morales for the Sony PlayStation Platform and also chart topping productions for international recording artist Kehlani.
Yogi's collaboration with Sony Records and Internationally acclaimed producer Boi1da continues to carry him to heights beyond his wildest dreams. Yogis journey is a testament to the fact that Young Boys and girls from quaint communities , faced with challenges can achieve greatness. The only one stopping you is yourself
FUN FACT: Johann is the son of late cultural/musical stalwart and community activist Mrs. Petronilla Deterville. His protege Ransum da producer Desmond "Ransum" Auguste who Yogi taught and mentored is now one of the leading producers on island.
We wish Johann continued prosperity as he achieves his dreams and inspires a community and Nation. 💪🏾
