King Sejong, Sejong the great was the fourth ruler of Joseon dynasty of Korea. He is considered as one of the most outstanding korean kings because of his many achievements in the areas of culture, art, science and politics, including Hangeul, the Korean alphabet.
King Sejong created Hunmin Jeongum, but took time to teat its practicality by writing the epic Yongbi Eicheonga (Songs of Flying Dragons) in the Korean alphabet, thereby improving the writing system. (Photo #7)
In 1443, Hunmin Jeongam was completed. However in February of the following year, seven scholars including Choe Man-ri appealed, making that their opposition clear, citing the souring of relations with China and contradictions with Neo-confusion principles. (Photo #8)
King Sejong continued his efforts to create Hangeul despite conflicts of China and opposition from Confucian scholars and nobleman. (Photo #9)
“My people cannot write characters even though they have hands, and can’t read characters even though they have eyes. Joseon needs new characters that are suitable for people” - King Sejong (photo #9)
Then, in 1446, King Sejong officially promulgated the Korean alphabet.
..사진 속 비하인드 스토리...
On last 7th of August , a sunday, I went to watch the movie #비상선언 at Suwon CGV. It was a thrilling movie and even more thrilling because I watched it in 4DX.
And then, I went to Seoul to visit Gwanhamun square. It was opened to public after nearly two years of renovation. If you go there you can see a grand statue e of King Sejong and underground, there is King Sejong museum, The story of King Sejong 세정이야기, which is free of admission. This exhibition hall was established for commending King Sejong and his great achievements in Korean history. And also there is a additional exhibition hall for Admiral Yi Sunshin who made great achievements during the Japanese invasion of Korea.
