At EOC, we welcome the lifting of the suspension on the registration of new SACCO societies, a move that opens new opportunities for growth, innovations and financial inclusion within Kenya’s cooperative sector.

The enhanced registration requirements announced by CS Wycliffe Oparanya underscore the importance of strong governance, adequate capitalization and sustainable business practices in building resilient SACCOs that can effectively serve their members.

We remain committed to supporting the development of a vibrant cooperative ecosystem that empowers communities, drives economic participation and contributes to national development.

We were so honoured to have attended the Nairobi Cooperative Expo, which provided a strategic platform for meaningful stakeholder engagement, bringing together youths, SACCOs, regulatory officials and customers in a shared space for dialogue and collaboration. These interactions offered valuable insights into emerging needs, challenges and opportunities within the financial ecosystem.

The discussions greatly enriched our understanding of financial inclusion, digital transformation and customer-centric service delivery. A key highlight was capturing a moment in slide 1 with the Deputy Governor of Nairobi, H.E. James Njoroge Muchiri and the Chief Officer for Cooperatives, Nairobi County, George Mutiso Musembi, reflecting the significance of the engagements and the shared commitment to strengthening the cooperative sector.

Overall, the Expo reinforced the importance of continuous stakeholder engagement in shaping responsive, inclusive and sustainable solutions..
