Today, ZHEYA and the Youth4Afya Coalition held a productive virtual engagement where we exchanged experiences, shared progress, and explored collaborative strategies for advancing youth-centered health policy advocacy.
It was inspiring to learn from ZHEYA's advocacy journey, including their engagements with the Healthcare Professionals Council of Zambia and Members of Parliament to champion policies that strengthen youth employment and health systems.
As Youth4Afya Coalition Kenya, we look forward to pursuing similar strategic engagements with policymakers, regulatory bodies, and other key stakeholders to drive meaningful change.
The session also provided an opportunity for Youth4Afya Coalition to highlight the success of our Mentorship Programme, spearheaded by the Kenya Medical Association (KMA), which continues to connect aspiring and early-career health professionals with experienced mentors, fostering leadership, professional growth, and a stronger pipeline of advocates for health systems transformation.
Our discussions reaffirmed a shared vision: •Empowering Youth Leadership
•Strengthening Systems
•Creating Jobs
Guided by the Africa Health Collaborative's 3 main pillars:
Health Employment (H**P),
Health Entrepreneurship (HENT) and
Health Ecosystem(HECO)
For Youth4Afya Coalition, our advocacy priorities remain clear:
🔹 Addressing delayed medical internship placements.
🔹 Promoting meaningful youth engagement in health policy and decision-making.
🔹 Strengthening initiatives such as mentorship that equip young professionals with the skills, networks, and confidence to lead change.
🔹 Advocating for sustainable pathways that support the growth and retention of the health workforce by H**P taskforce members
🔹Advancing knowledge through AHC courses to empower youth health entrepreneurship initiatives.

On Saturday, 23rd May 2026, Youth4Afya members came together for a vibrant social hangout at John Michuki Memorial Park, Nairobi, for an engaging conversation on money, personal financial management, and intentional living.
This session was specifically curated for pre-interns transitioning into formal employment. The session explored how young professionals can begin to think of money as an enabler — learning how to master it, control it, and make meaningful investments for the future.
The hangout featured heartfelt storytelling and honest peer-to-peer conversations, creating a safe and relatable space for participants to share real-life experiences, lessons, and aspirations around finances and personal growth.
At Youth4Afya, we continue to create spaces where young people can connect, learn, and grow beyond professional training — because building stronger health systems also means building empowered, financially aware young leaders.

What does the future of global health look like when young people are not just participants—but decision-makers? 🌍✨
Last week at the World Health Summit Regional Meeting 2026 held at United Nations Office at Nairobi, Youth4Afya Coalition proudly joined global leaders, policymakers, and innovators in shaping conversations on the future of health systems.
With 16 Health Ministers and over 400 speakers, the whole summit was phenomenal. The event was centred under the theme: Reimagining Africa’s Health Systems: Innovation, Integration and Interdependence.
Key discussions oriented on:
🔹 Strengthening health systems resilience in the face of emerging global threats
🔹 Advancing Universal Health Coverage and equitable access to care
🔹 Leveraging digital health and innovation for better service delivery
🔹 Climate change and its growing impact on health
But beyond the panels and plenaries, one thing stood out—youth voices were not sidelined; they were amplified.
Through active participation in dialogues, policy spaces, and cross-sector engagements, young people: 💡 Contributed fresh, community-driven perspectives
💡 Challenged existing systems with innovative thinking
💡 Advocated for inclusive, youth-responsive health policies
At Youth4Afya, we believe meaningful youth engagement is not symbolic—it is essential.
The future of health is being shaped NOW, and young people are right at the table. 🚀
