Construction waste refers to any type of waste or debris that is generated during the building process.This waste can include materials such as concrete, wood, metal, bricks, glass, and plastics.
Construction waste can be generated at every stage of a construction project, from site preparation and foundation work to finishing and landscaping. The amount and type of waste generated depend on factors such as the size and complexity of the project, the materials used, and the construction methods employed.

Highligted below are the main sources:

𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 - This type of construction waste is generated when old buildings or structures are demolished or renovated. It includes materials such as concrete, bricks, wood, metals, and roofing materials.

𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 - waste generated as a result of accumulating construction materials in a designated location.After use,some debris is usually left behind especially sand.

𝐂𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 - typically refer to leftover or unused materials that are produced during a manufacturing or construction process. These off-cuts may be too small or irregularly shaped to be used in the original product especially for steel reinforcements and masonry blocks.

𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 - refers to the waste generated during the transportation and offloading of construction products such as glass or ceramics. It through spills,breakages and vandalism.

𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 - refers to waste materials that are generated during construction activities, and cannot be recycled or reused.An example is paint whereby some drops tend to be left out in the container.

𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 - refers to the waste that occurs during the application or installation of construction materials.A good example is mortar that spills off during plaster works.

In budget estimation,its take as 5% per material use.
When not properly controlled,it can cause huge variations in bugdet especially for application waste and cutoff waste.
It is also advisable to deploy sustainable means of disposal such as re-use and recycle to as to reduce environmental harm and also indirectly save on budget.

𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐀 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐎𝐑.
Choosing the right contractor for your construction project requires careful consideration and thorough evaluation. Its not a mere guesswork.We can do it together. Some of the safe practices are:

1️⃣ Research and gather recommendations - Search online directories, review websites, and social media platforms to find reputable contractors in your area.Personal referrals can also provide valuable insights.

2️⃣ Check Credentials and Qualifications - Verify that the contractor is licensed with NCA and has the necessary permits to work on your type of project in your location.
3️⃣ Review Portfolios and Past Projects - examine the contractor's portfolio of completed projects. Look for projects similar in scope and style to yours.Request references from previous clients and contact them to inquire about their experience working with the contractor.
4️⃣ Visit Current and Completed Projects - If possible, visit a current job site to observe the contractor's work in progress to assess the quality of craftsmanship, attention to detail e.t.c

5️⃣ Assess capacity - most likely financial.Should have the resources to complete your project without delays or financial issues.
From your end as a client,clearly outline the scope of your project, including its size, purpose, budget, timeline, and any specific requirements or preferences you have. This will help potential contractors understand your needs.
You may be in conflict as a result of you not providing detailed briefs or consistent communication.
