CANCER RISKS.
One of the risk factors of cancer is Excess weight.
Apart from it being a risk factor of cancer it also increases risk of developing heart diseases and diabetes. Excessive weight causes the body to produce and circulate more oestrogen and insulin hormones that stimulate cancer growth.
A healthy weight is a relationship between your height and weight called the BMI and to reduce cancer risks your BMI should be
Here are the steps on how to do a breast self examination. Very simple steps to take kindly share with a friend. We are ONE remember.
Health and peace
Breast cancer is one among the many lifestyle diseases that are threatening the peaceful growth of the young people. Did you know that it can affect men also? The stereotype would not know that as many assume breasts are women organs. Yet the chests of men are as vulnerable to being affected with this. We as youth have to be pro-awareness and look to prevent it from developing in our bodies. With sensitization more men will come out for regular checks from medics and peer to peer consulting. As pillars of society, men need to feel no shame when a woman asks them to check their "chests/breasts" for the disease. Before you react with anger dear men, look closely to your heart to understand what the implications of breast cancer is to your life. Don't be offended if a woman asks about the health of your breasts.
Its October.
Breast cancer awareness month. Do you know how to examine your breast? Maybe that should be one of your goals this month as we support those already suffering from this and as we create more awareness to prevent its prevalence. No matter the race no matter the tribe let's care for each other. Educate your neighbors and encourage them to go for check ups if they can't examine themselves.
Health and peace for the youth? A story is told of how Collins saved his friend Alice during a recent demo. Collins who is 18 years managed to do quick CPR to Alice 23 years who was unconscious and was in critical condition after inhaling tear gas. With this basic step Collins was able to demonstrate that even in times of conflict, health can be a channel of restoring peace as Collins was from one community and Alice another. Despite their different side of the political equation, saving Alice was a health decision. Now Alice's community has not only loved Collins more but ensured that peace prevails in their area. If all of us invested more time in health, peace would prevail. If you have had such a similar experience kindly share the story using the hashtag to help ACERP invest peace into the youth who are always affected by disputes.
