Kradel purified drinking water is produced at the foot of Mt.Kenya in Meru County by Kamumu Eco Farm Limited, the owners of Kradel trademark.
To ensure purity and freshness, Kradel is processed through filtration, reverse osmosis and sterilization. Kamumu Eco Farm is a small scale family farm that was registered in 2014 and is located on the leeward side of Mt. Kenya in Buuri Sub-County, Meru County. The farm specializes in rearing of Holstein Friesian cows and our heifers were sourced from local farms. In order to improve the quality o
f our stock we artificially inseminate our cows with imported and local proven semen. The cows are mainly fed on fodder produced on the farm and stored in form of hay or silage. The farm boasts of a large barn that can store over 4000 bales of hay. The farm’s fodder is supplemented with commercial feeds and minerals. We are served with piped communal water. The current stock of around 20 cows is managed by three well trained members of staff and a standby veterinarian. All the milk produced at the farm is sold to Brookside Dairy Ltd. The farm is supplied with electricity, which is used for lighting and running the chaff cutter. However, all cooking and heating is done using the 24cubic meter biogas plant at the farm. The slurry from the biogas plant is spread on the farm using pipes. The farm is keen on transforming the environment it operates on and has planted over 3000 trees on its land. Vision
Kamumu Eco Farm's vision is to establish a modern dairy, breed high quality cows, which in turn produce lots of milk and give birth to pedigree bulls and heifers, in a healthy, humane, and environmentally sustainable way. Thus, creating local employment, selling high quality milk products, and contributing to the nation's food security. We are planning to host open days where local farmers, schools, colleges and other stakeholders, who wish to learn about modern dairy farming, may visit our facility as a demonstration farm and seek consultation services. We also intend to parade our cows in the agricultural and breeders' shows in the near future. This will give us a platform to showcase our cows to those interested in buying pedigree Holstein Friesians. Future Plans
To sink a borehole and end reliance on erratic rainfall. This will ensure all year round fodder production. The farm intends to start producing yoghurt and powdered milk in the near future so as to control the entire value chain and overcome the perennially depressed raw milk prices. Plans are also underway to mechanize milking of the cows at the farm. We are also in the process of registering our herd with the Kenya Stud Book and also record milk productions with the Kenya Livestock Breeders Organization. We also intend to seek membership to the Kenya Holstein Friesian Cattle Society.
