Today marks a powerful step forward for transgender rights in Kenya. The High Court has affirmed that Kenyan law does not expressly prohibit the alteration of s*x or gender markers on official documents, and that denying transgender persons this right violates constitutional protections and human dignity.
This ruling is more than a legal victory — it is a reminder that every person deserves recognition, equality, and the freedom to live authentically without discrimination.
As advocates for human rights and inclusion, we celebrate this milestone while continuing the fight for dignity, safety, healthcare, and equal opportunities for all transgender people in Kenya.

Some transgender refugees and asylum seekers arrive at our shelter carrying more than bags. They arrive carrying fear, rejection, trauma, isolation, and the pain of being forced to leave behind homes, families, and the lives they once knew.
Many have survived violence, discrimination, homelessness, and unsafe environments simply because of who they are.
For some, finding a safe shelter is the first time in a long time they are able to sleep without fear.
At TFI, our work is not just about providing shelter it is about restoring dignity, safety, hope, and belonging.
Behind every transgender refugee is a human story that deserves compassion, protection, and support.
No one should have to suffer for existing authentically.
We continue to stand with transgender refugees and asylum seekers every day.

Beyond borders, beyond survival.
For many transgender refugees and asylum seekers, the journey does not end when they cross into safety it continues through discrimination, exclusion, and uncertainty.
Yet through it all they carry resilience, courage, and hope.
At Transformed Freedom Initiative (TFI), we stand with transgender refugees and asylum seekers not just in their struggle, but in their right to live freely, safely, and authentically.
No one should have to fight to exist.
Stand with us. Be part of the change.

Trans history is not a new story—it’s a story that has always existed, even when the world tried to erase it.
During Trans History Week, we remember the courage of those who came before us, who lived their truth in silence, resistance, and resilience. Their lives paved the way for the visibility and rights we continue to fight for today.
This week is not just about looking back—it’s about recognizing that trans people are part of every community, every culture, and every moment in history.
We honor the past by continuing the work in the present: advocating, protecting, and creating spaces where trans people can live freely and safely.
Because trans history is human history—and it deserves to be seen, heard, and respected.
