IS YOUR TRUCK OR PICKUP INSURED CORRECTLY?

Most of the times we look at the rate but forget to check if the class is correct. The class of cover depends on the use of the vehicle. A pickup, truck, trailer, water bowser, exhauser, tanker or tipper can be INSURED in one of these three classes:

1. COMMERCIAL OWN GOODS If you use it to carry your own goods e.g. you have a shop or butchery and you buy goods from a supplier and carry them to your shop or when a client buys goods you deliver to their doorstep.

2. GENERAL CARTAGE If you are a transporter and your job is to ferry your client's goods from one place to another.

3. TANKERS If you have a water bowser, mixer, exhauser or oil tanker then this is your class

N.B. THE GOODS ARE GENERALLY NOT INSURED WHEN BEING TRANSPORTED

To cover goods as well, you pay extra by purchasing:

1. Goods in transit cover if the goods are yours
2. Carriers Liability covet if the goods belong to your client.
