If you are like most people, bet you feel harassed every time you visit the pump.
Tyre Size
Smaller wheels and tyres are good to go with in start-stop traffic as less power is needed. But if you are someone who loves long drive then you will have to make more stops at the petrol station as the engine works harder to make the smaller wheel cover the same distance as a larger one. So, for better fuel economy when cruising, larger wheel would be a better option to go with.
Treadwear
Rolling resistance of a tyre also depends upon tyre tread. The shallower the tread, the more fuel-efficient the tyre will be.
Tyre Pressure
The easiest way to enhance fuel economy is to make sure that your tyres are properly inflated. An underinflated tyre can increase a vehicle’s fuel consumption by 10 per cent. It also accelerates the rate of tyre wear, so you will soon be needing a new set.

If you want to take full advantage of the traction provided by your truck’s four-wheel-drive system, you need to run a tyre designed to grip the surfaces you drive on. And if those include both paved and unpaved roads, the tyre you’re looking for is an all-terrain.
What’s the Right Size?
Larger tyres will more easily roll over larger obstacles off-road. They also look cool. Unfortunately, larger tyres will also reduce a vehicle’s effective gear ratio. That can utterly destroy a vehicle’s fuel economy, performance, and off-road capability.

Self Supporting
One of the technologies used in run-flat tyres is the self support kind.
Self-supporting run-flat tyres are now common on light trucks and passenger cars and typically allows the vehicle to be driven for 50 miles (80 km) at around 50 miles per hour (80 km/h). However, if the tyres are subject to misuse, wheels may become damaged in the process, and repair may be impossible or unsafe, especially if the tyre is punctured in the sidewall or at the edge of the tread.
They carry a 20% to 40% weight penalty over similar standard tyres and the thicker sidewall also means higher rolling resistance, which reduces the vehicle's fuel economy. However, the weight penalty of the individual tyre is usually more than compensated by the fact that the vehicle need no longer carry a spare, as well as the equipment needed to swap in the spare. The thicker sidewall however results in more road imperfections filtering through the tire to the rim and hence to the car, which results in a harsher ride.

You have most probably heard of run-flat tyres. The ones designed to resist the effects of deflation when punctured, and to allow the vehicle to continue to be driven at reduced speeds - under 90 km/h (56 mph) – and for limited distances – usually 16 to 80 km (10 to 50 mi), depending on the type of tire.
Did you know there at least three types of run-flat tyres?
