Made my transition less stressful... thank you so much
Our hearts remain with the Sailors of USS John S. McCain (DDG 56) and U.S. 7th Fleet as well as their families. If you are looking for ways to help, please visit Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, Yokosuka or USO Yokosuka.
Update: We greatly appreciate the heartfelt support for the USS John S. McCain (DDG 56) crew and the desire from many generous people to donate or provide assistance. The McCain Sailors are already receiving assistance from the U.S. Navy community in Singapore and their shipmates aboard the USS America (LHA 6) . Please see the note below from the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, Yokosuka office's response efforts and how you can potentially help.

I am currently on base visiting my daughter and my son-in-law who is active duty. Last week, my daughter and I attempted to shop and donate to the Society at the thrift store, only to find that unless I am SOFA sponsored, I can't even enter the store. I have a base visitor's pass, that allows me entry everywhere else on the base, except a store run by a charity (to which I donate)? This makes no sense to me at all. The society accepts donations from all citizens, non-military included. Why would you not allow us to shop in a thrift store?

The Society provides financial assistance and education, as well as other programs and services, to members of the United States Navy and Marine Corps, their eligible family members, widows, and survivors.

The Society also receives and manages donated funds to administer these programs and services. Our main goal is to help each person who comes to us get support for their immediate needs. Our long-term mission is to help Sailors and Marines become financially self-sufficient by learning how to better manage their personal finances and prepare for unplanned expenses.

Please join us in celebrating our Volunteer of the Quarter, Bess Angelozzi!

Bess has provided exceptional service to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, Yokosuka, Japan as the Budget for Baby Program Lead.
Since starting as a volunteer in September 2020, she has devoted over 270 hours of her time, demonstrating hard work and dedication to various NMCRS Programs, including the Budget for Baby Workshop and the Casework program. The Budget for Baby Team is appreciative of her willingness to take on challenges to oversee the program, train new volunteers, and provide leadership and guidance to all Budget for Baby Instructors. Her passion and energy are unparalleled. She is organized, dependable, always goes beyond expectations, and values the connection between volunteers and our community. Her efforts as the Budget for Baby Lead has led to a 30% increase of the Budget for Baby Program participation. Her hard work has impacted over 200 parents from October 2021 to September 2022. Her consistent can-do attitude and warm smile have ensured we continue our mission to help Active Duty and Retired Sailors, Marines, their families, the community, and our volunteers. She quickly and thoroughly embraced our mission and is a wonderful public ambassador for the Society. She embodies kindness and compassion for others, ensuring we continue to carry out our mission to serve! Thank you for all of your support and all you do for the community!

NEXT CLASS MONDAY NOV. 7th!
Are you expecting a baby or are you a new parent?
Did you know that it's common for women to experience the "baby blues" - feeling stressed, sad, anxious, lonely, tired, or weepy - following their baby's birth? But some women - up to 1 in 7 - experience a much more serious mood disorder - postpartum depression.
The NMCRS nurse has put together a group that meets monthly where new and expecting parents can talk openly about their feelings and get education that helps develop skills to manage feeling and cope with common problems many parents have. In addition to getting valuable information, this group is a great place to make new friends and talk in general about topics and issues all new moms and dads tackle. The support group is for parents to gather and discuss any educational topic related to motherhood, fatherhood, and postpartum care.
Moms and dads are welcome, and so are your kids!
The next group meets Monday Nov. 7th.

Want to join us for the next event? Sign up to volunteer today. We have many opportunities available for all from high schoolers to professionals who are looking to fill the resume gaps.
