Due to the continuing increase of COVID-19 in Japan, USFJ has extended the current off-installation restriction to strictly essential activities for an additional seven days to Jan. 31. The FAST Office/ID Lab will be closed for operations all day on 11Jan22 and 12Jan22. For any emergent USID/CAC needs please contact PSD. We will reopen at 0800 13Jan22. Thank you for your support!

Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka has directed the setting of Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness (TCCOR) All Clear and the reset of TCCOR 5. Tropical Cyclone 16W (Chan-Hom) is no longer forecasted to produce damaging winds in the vicinity of the base. All tenant commands and activities return to TCCOR 5 posture. The setting of TCCOR 5 (effective 1 June 2020) established a heightened level of tropical cyclone awareness during the 2020 Typhoon Season.
Please monitor Commander’s Channel 28, Weather Channel 16, and Facebook for future TCCOR and severe weather updates.

Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka has directed the setting of Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness (TCCOR) Storm Watch for all areas under CFAY (including Main Base and Ikego) effective 1800 JST, 9 Oct 2020. Tropical Cyclone 16W (Chan-Hom) is no longer expected to produce destructive winds (50kts sustained or gusts in excess of 60kts) on base. However, damaging winds (in excess of 35kts) are forecast, and personnel should remain alert and monitor tropical cyclone information sources as rapid changes could occur while in TCCOR Storm Watch.
Up-to-date tropical cyclone and weather information for CFAY during increased TCCORs can be found on Commander's Channel 28, Weather Channel 16, Eagle 810 AM, and CFAY's page.

U.S. Forces Japan extends Japan-wide public health emergency
Yokota Air Base, Tokyo – The Commander, U.S. Forces Japan has extended the Public Health Emergency in response to on-going Coronavirus Disease concerns today. This order applies U.S. facilities Japan-wide and extended the previous declaration that was originally set through October 12, 2020.
The declaration ensures commanders possess the necessary authorities to enforce compliance with health protection measures and is applicable to anyone with access to U.S. installations or facilities which includes military, civilians, contractors, and host-nation employees.
The extended PHE will remain in effect through December 31, unless it is renewed or terminated sooner by the USFJ commander.
USFJ will continually assess necessary preventative measures and continues to encourage strict hygiene and social distancing to reduce the risk of transmission.

CFAY would like to use this time as a reminder of what our TCCOR settings mean and how you can stay informed as storms approach CFAY. As storms get closer and we shift our condition of readiness, you can get those updates via CFAY's page, our Base Information Channel 28, and Computer Desktop Notification System (CDNS) which requires registration. You can also get weather-related information from Naval Oceanography Antisubmarine Warfare Center Yokosuka's website, Weather Channel 16, and AFN's Eagle 810.
