世界銀行「都市財政の基本と改革」に関する都市開発実務者向け対話型研修を実施しました
Interactive training for urban development practitioners on the World Bank's “Fundamentals and Innovations in City Finance”

横浜市は、都市づくりと国際協力の取組が世界銀行に評価され、2016年から世界銀行東京開発ラーニングセンター(TDLC)が主催する都市間パートナーシッププログラム(CPP)に参加しています。この度、世界銀行が実施する都市財政に関する訪日研修において、本市財政局主税部から固定資産税と都市計画税に関する市の実務について講義を行いました。また、海外研修生が市の区役所を訪問して、住民票登録や市税の課税業務等の様々な市民サービスを一カ所で提供する効率的な区役所業務を見学しました。

本研修には、途上国政府・自治体関係者や世界銀行職員、海外からの専門家など約60名が参加し、活発な質疑応答・議論が繰り広げられました。横浜市の知見や取組が多くの国の財政政策の向上に活かされることを期待しています。

The City of Yokohama has been recognized by the World Bank for its leadership in urban development and international cooperation. Since 2016, Yokohama has participated in the City Partnership Program (CPP), organized by the Tokyo Development Learning Center (TDLC). A Director of in Taxation Department, Yokohama's Finance Bureau gave a lecture on the city's policies and initiatives regarding fixed property taxes and city planning tax during a training program on city finance conducted by the World Bank. In addition the participants form overseas visited to a Ward Office to see efficient ward office operations that provide various citizen services such as resident registration and municipal taxation in one location.

Approximately 60 participants, including government and municipal officials from developing countries, World Bank staffs, and experts from overseas, took part in the training, and the lively discussion provided a valuable opportunity. We hope that Yokohama's knowledge and efforts will be used to improve the financial policies of many countries.

フィリピンからの視察団が横浜へ！本市の廃棄物管理の取組を発信しました
Yokohama welcomes Philippine delegation, shares knowledge and experience on waste management

政策研究大学院大学（GRIPS）によるフィリピン政府幹部の訪日プログラムの一環で、フィリピン政府省庁の事務次官ら24名が来浜し、横浜市の廃棄物管理についての講義の聴講及び市内の民間リサイクルプラントを視察しました。
廃棄物分野においてのDXの取組や横浜市内の資源循環産業の活性化を図るための公民連携組織である「横浜市資源循環推進プラットフォーム」の推進について視察団と本市職員が意見交換を行った後、木くず・プラスチックリサイクルの民間工場を視察しました。
横浜市とフィリピンのセブ市は2012年に「持続可能な都市発展に向けた技術協力に関する覚書」を締結し、本市のY-PORT事業においてこれまで協力関係を築いてきました。現在は、廃棄物や排水・下水の分野で技術協力事業を進めており、今回視察した株式会社グーンはセブ都市圏の廃棄物事業を展開しています。

今回の視察では、廃棄物管理の取組などの本市の知見や経験が共有され、今後フィリピンの環境改善の推進に活用されます。

As part of a program by the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) to bring Philippine government officials to Japan, a group of 24 officials, including undersecretaries from Philippine government ministries, visited Yokohama to attend a lecture on waste management in the city and to tour a private recycling plant in Yokohama.
The delegation exchanged views with city officials on DX initiatives in the waste sector and the promotion of the “Resource Recycling Promotion Platform,” a public-private partnership organization to revitalize the resource recycling industry in Yokohama City, and visited a private plant for wood waste and plastic recycling.
The City of Yokohama and the City of Cebu in the Philippines signed a “Memorandum of Understanding on Technical Cooperation for Sustainable Urban Development” in 2012, and have been cooperating in the Y-PORT project. In particular, the two cities have been active in the field of waste management, and GUUN Co., Ltd., which we visited this time, expanded its waste management business to the Cebu metropolitan area under the city-to-city cooperation.

During the visit, the city's knowledge and experience in waste management was well shared and they will be used to promote environmental improvement in the Philippines in the future.

JICA海外協力隊の横浜市にゆかりある新規派遣者の皆様が副市長と面会
New JICA volunteers who have connections with Yokohama City meet with Deputy Mayor before departing for their assignments

独立行政法人国際協力機構（JICA）は、開発途上地域の経済・社会の発展や復興に協力するため、1965年から海外協力隊を派遣しています。
３月27日、JICA海外協力隊新規派遣者８名が佐藤副市長と面会しました。
各隊員から派遣国での活動内容について紹介があり、佐藤副市長は新天地での活動を目前に控えたJICA海外協力隊の皆様を激励しました。

Since 1965, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has dispatched volunteers to support economic and social development in emerging countries.
On March 27th, 8 people volunteering through the program paid a courtesy visit to Deputy Mayor Sato at City Hall. The volunteers shared some of the activities they would be involved with.
After hearing from each of them, Deputy Mayor Sato wished them the best of luck with their tasks in their new venture.
The City of Yokohama sends its best wishes with the volunteers as they head to their new assignments!

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) in cooperation with the co-organizers of the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) is inviting applications for thematic events. The call for applications is for (1) seminar and symposium and (2) booth exhibition and panel exhibition, opportunities to exchange views on Africa’s development during TICAD 9, held from August 20 to 22, 2025. Organizations who have an interest are requested to review the guidelines provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and send the completed application form to Secretariat for TICAD no later than Friday, April 25, 2025.

San Diego Mission Bay Preservationists to give jazz performance at Yokohama City Hall

３月28日（金）12：00から、横浜市役所１階アトリウムで、米国・サンディエゴ市の「ミッションベイ・ハイスクール」のジャズバンド「ミッションベイ・プレザベイショニスツ」によるジャズ演奏会を開催します。
ミッションベイ・ハイスクールは、横浜市立金沢高等学校と海外姉妹校提携をしており、ミッションベイ・プレザベイショニスツは、同校に在籍する高校生で構成されるジャズバンドです。米国内では、伝統的な青年ジャズバンドとして知られ、定期的に演奏会を開催しており、卒業後、米国内の一流音楽学校に進む生徒も多くいます。
演奏会は、入場無料でどなたでもご鑑賞いただけますので、皆さんぜひお越しください！

なお、ミッションベイ・プレザベイショニスツによる演奏会は、以下の会場でも開催されます。

Student jazz band “Mission Bay Preservationists” from San Diego City’s Mission Bay High School are performing live at City Hall Atrium (1F) on Friday, March 28 at 12:00pm.
This special concert is open to everyone free of charge, so don’t miss it!

Mission Bay High School is sister school to Kanazawa High School in Yokohama, and its students form the Mission Bay Preservationists.
The Preservationists, known as one of the U.S.’s premier traditional youth jazz bands, hold regular performances, with many of its members going on to be accepted into top music schools in the country after they graduate.

The band is also planning the following performances:

横浜市立小菅ケ谷小学校で国際局出前授業を行いました！
Int. Affairs Bureau staff invited to speak at Kosugaya Elem. School

２月14日（金）、国際局職員が横浜市立小菅ケ谷小学校で、４年生に出前授業を行いました。

今年、横浜市が姉妹都市提携60周年を迎える４都市（ムンバイ、マニラ、オデーサ、バンクーバー）に加え、他の姉妹・友好都市である、サンディエゴ、リヨン、上海、コンスタンツァの地理や文化を紹介し、横浜市が世界の街とつながっていることを説明しました。また、カナダやブラジル出身の職員から自国の歴史や特徴について紹介し、交流しました。

児童からは、「もっと外国のことについて知りたくなった」、「カナダやブラジルに行ってみたい」、「はじめて外国の人と話せた！」、「人を見た目で判断するのではなく中身で判断しようと改めて思った」といった感想が寄せ書きで送られました。

国際局では、市内の児童・生徒たちに向けて、今後も世界を知り交流する機会を提供していきたいと思います。

On Friday, Feb 14, Yokohama City International Affairs Bureau gave a lecture to fourth grade students at Kosugaya Elementary School.
A Japanese staff member introduced Yokohama’s sister cities, and non-Japanese staff members spoke about their respective countries.

First, the students listened to information about Mumbai, Manila, Odesa, and Vancouver, four cities celebrating 60 years of sister city affiliation with Yokohama in 2025. Then, they learned about the cities of San Diego, Lyon, Shanghai, and Constanța, four more of Yokohama’s sister cities. Next, they listened to Canadian and Brazilian staff who shared the history and background of their countries.

Later, the International Affairs Bureau staff received comments from the students such as “You made me want to learn more about other countries,” “I want to travel to Brazil and Canada now,” “This was my first time talking to a foreigner,” and “Thank you for teaching me that it’s not the outside but what’s on the inside that matters.”

The International Affairs Bureau hopes that opportunities such as this will give local students a chance to learn more about the world around them.

AFRICA CULTURE & SPORTS EVENTを開催しました！
Africa Culture & Sports Event a success!

✨今年8月に横浜で開催される第9回アフリカ開発会議（TICAD9）に向けて、アフリカの文化やスポーツを通した取り組みに触れることができるイベント、AFRICA CULTURE & SPORTS EVENT を開催し、ブース展示と講演会・パネルディスカッションを行いました。
ブース出展では、アフリカの文化や生活、自然について、様々な団体による展示やスワヒリ語講座が行われました。
講演会では、タンザニアについての講演や、スポーツを通したアフリカでの人づくりをテーマとしたパネルディスカッションが行われました。
来場者からは、「新しい発見が多かった」「アフリカの素晴らしさを知ることができた」といった声や、アフリカとのさらなる交流を希望する声が寄せられました。
横浜市は今後も、アフリカを身近に感じてもらう取り組みを進めていきます。

✨The Africa Culture and Sports Event, featuring exhibits, lectures, and a panel discussion, was held on February 1 in preparation for TICAD9 in Yokohama this August.
Display booths from various organizations showcased Swahili language lessons and shared the lives, cultures and environments of people of African countries.
The lectures featured a talk about Tanzania and a panel discussion on how sports are used in the development of human resources.
Visitors who came to the event commented that they learned something new about African countries and many expressed hope for further opportunities like this.
Yokohama City will continue to plan events where African culture can be experienced up close.

「にっぽん―大使たちの視線2024」写真展が開催されました　
“Inspiring Japan -through Diplomats’ Eyes 2024” photo exhibit

「にっぽん―大使たちの視線2024」写真展が赤レンガ倉庫で開催されました。各国駐日大使をはじめとする外交官が「Inspiring Japan」をテーマに撮影した作品が展示されました。
また、今年８月に横浜で開催される第９回アフリカ開発会議（TICAD9）に向けて、横浜展独自の取組として、アフリカにゆかりのある絵本作家・沢田としき氏の原画作品やアフリカの民族衣装等、アフリカに関する展示も行いました。

Inspiring Japan -through Diplomats’ Eyes 2024, held at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, concluded on February 9. The exhibit featured photos taken by ambassadors to Japan and other diplomats of various countries.
Yokohama displayed original works by picture book artist and author Toshiki Sawada as well as traditional African clothing in connection to the upcoming Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) to be held in the city this August.

フィリピン・マカティ市防災視察団を受入れました！
City of Yokohama accepts disaster prevention delegation from Makati City, Philippines!

　本市は、シティネットや関連国際機関、会員都市等による要請を受け、横浜での関連業務における視察・研修の受入れを行っています。
　2月6日～10日に、パシフィコ横浜で行われた第29回震災対策技術展参加のために、シティネット会員であるマカティ市の防災・危機管理室の5名が来日したことに合わせ、横浜市の防災・危機管理関連の視察受入れを実施しました。消防本部庁舎・消防司令センター・市民防災センターの視察受入れのほか、横浜市危機管理室及び市庁舎の耐震・防災対策の視察、密集市街地における地震火災対策や地域防災対策や地域防災拠点に関する取組紹介を行いました。
　※シティネットとは、アジア太平洋地域の都市問題の改善・解決を目指す非営利の国際組織です。1987年に設立され、今では2023年12月現在、162の都市・団体等が加盟しています。

Yokohama conducted a tour related to disaster prevention and crisis management for a five-person delegation, in Japan to participate in the 29th Earthquake Technology Expo at Pacifico Yokohama (Feb 6 to 10), from the Office of Disaster and Crisis Management in Makati City, Philippines, a member of CITYNET.
In addition to an inspection of the Fire Department Headquarters Government Building, the Fire Command Center, and the Yokohama Disaster Risk Reduction Learning Center, the group visited the Crisis Management Office and City Hall to learn earthquake, disaster, and fire prevention measures in both urban and local areas.
※CITYNET is a non-profit, international organization dedicated to improving and solving urban problems in the Asia-Pacific region. Founded in 1987, there are 154 member cities and organizations as of January 2023.
※The City of Yokohama accepts requests from CITYNET, international organizations, and member cities to conduct inspections and training in Yokohama for related business.
