We wrapped up the session with site visits to the Kadena AB Recycling Center, the Okinawa Kurishiki Incinerator Plant gaining firsthand insight into base wide waste management operations. ♻️👏🏽

Today’s inspection marks another important step in our ongoing commitment to compliance, accountability, and readiness across the Air Force. In support of the CSAF’s Standards and Readiness Reviews, we’re reinforcing a culture where pride, cohesion, and mission excellence go hand in hand. Forging Stronger Joint Capabilities
18 CONS hosted a multi-unit Contingency Contracting Officer (CCO) training event, uniting Contracting Units from Misawa, Yokota, and the 3rd Expeditionary Contracting Platoon, III MEF. Together, we sharpened our contingency skills, strengthened operational contracting readiness, and enhanced joint interoperability across the Indo-Pacific.

Kadena’s 18th Contracting Squadron (18 CONS) joined our counterparts across the force to lead the charge at the Joint Contracting Support Board (JCSB) held at Yokota Air Base. During the event, we held strategic contract discussions for the USFJ Instruction 63-101 re-write with our partners from the USAF, USMC, USARPAC, NAVSUP, and DFAS. We were also joined by AFOSI and DCIS, whose involvement helped build stronger relationships and foster a deeper mutual understanding across the joint contracting community. Together we spearheaded joint interoperability and aligned acquisition strategies across the Indo-Pacific, this collaboration ensures we remain ready, resilient, and mission-focused. Grateful for the opportunity to connect, coordinate, and contribute alongside our joint partners.

This past week, 18 CONS had the privilege of attending SAME 2024!

The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) is dedicated to fostering partnerships across academia, industry, and government to solve engineering challenges. Representing Team Kadena alongside 18 CEG, we collaborated with American and Japanese vendors to address critical infrastructure needs here in Okinawa. Key topics included solutions for spalling and roofing issues, as well as future opportunities for local vendors in MACC, SABER, paving, and paint projects.

By participating in SAME, Team Kadena continues to proactively address infrastructure needs, strengthening our community and preparing for the challenges ahead.
