KIWL is seeking a volunteer support car driver. More details below.

KIWL is seeking a volunteer support car driver for its 4-day charity cycling tour, Thursday May 30th to Sunday June 2nd. With a car provided, you will enjoy all the beauty of the countryside and the camaraderie of the 50 riders and other support drivers. You just need to ferry the riders bags and be on hand here and there to hand out refreshments or help riders in distress. As it’s a charity event, we cannot cover hotels (approx Y40,000) but all tolls and gas expenses are refunded. We gather in Shizuoka city in the evening of May 29th and end the ride in Takasaki city on June 2nd. Driver must have a valid Japanese or international driving license. Mechanical or first aid ability would be a massive bonus! Japanese language ability not essential. Come and join us and be a vital cog in raising funds for kids in care! Thank you!

The Japan Cycle Tourism Promotion Association (一般社団法人日本サイクルツーリズム推進協会 Japan Cycle Tourism Association) will hold a 2-day cycling guide training course in English (with Japanese support) at our new location in Kyoto on Feb 15th (Thurs) and 16th (Fri)

In addition to the JCTA certification, this guide qualification allows you to simultaneously obtain the guide qualification of Cycling UK (CTC), the British cycling association with which JCTA is affiliated. , a global guide certification that has also been introduced in Switzerland, Canada, and Australia.

In the two-day course, you will learn a wide range of skills needed as a guide, such as risk assessment, route planning, briefing, and guiding skills (lead/end marker/tail guiding) to safely guide a group.

It took until March 31st but just saw two police officers in Osaka wearing their helmets. Don't forget, if you are riding a bike in Japan from tomorrow (not an April fools) then legally you should be wearing a helmet.
