Meet at the flagpole
“A Father Who Cares”
Psalm 103:8-18
Our view of our father changes over time. When we are young, he can do no wrong. As we grow into the teen years, we rebel and don’t look at him the same way. But in adulthood, we gain a greater understanding and respect for our father, and we learn to value the lessons he tried to teach.
God, our Heavenly Father, cares about us.
God cares about our mental state (Philippians 2:5)
God cares about our social development. (Proverbs 22:6)
God cares about our spiritual enrichment. (Ephesians 6:10-18)
The role of fathers is to love their children.
Fathers must discipline their children. (Proverbs 13:24)
God always gave a reason for his discipline and judgment on the children of Israel. We need to teach our children the reason for the discipline.
Fathers must teach their children. (Psalm 78:1)
Train your children in the way of the Lord, in the word of the Lord.
Teach them to pray first!
When fathers instruct the right way:
Children will honor and love their father
Children will obey their father, and
Children will heed their father.
The way fathers instruct is the model for how we should interact with the world - instructing with love.
